I was so close to buying the EJ DE89L but was still hung up on the whole vintage razors thing. I decided I'd give a couple of antique shops in town a call just in case they had something decent. I wasn't counting on much. The second place I called they told me they had 3 DE razors and 2 are pretty grimmy but the other isn't so bad. So I headed down and what they had was 2 Gillette Techs and a Fatboy. The Techs were the grimmy ones they were talking about but the Fatboy wasn't too beat up and everything worked smoothly on it. Doors shut tightly and all.
I asked the owner what he wanted for all 3. He thought for a second and said how about 10 bucks? No problem here! Payed the guy and off I went to pick up some Scrubbing Bubbles and Barbicide. Got home and gave them a good scrubbing with hot water and tooth paste with an old tooth brush. Then I went at it again with Scrubbing Bubbles. I stopped once I couldn't see any more progress being made. I soaked all 3 in Barbicide for 10 minutes then rinsed them off with hot water.
The Fatboy is an E3 from 1959 (I think), but I'm not completely sure. The all metal Tech is a 1950's era British made and the other with the plastic handle is made in the US.
Here's a couple of pics. Not the best at taking pics...sry.

I scrubbed and scrubbed, I just couldn't get this any cleaner.

I still plan on buying the EJ DE89L, but these were easier at $10 to slip under the wife's radar.
