Boar knots for restorations?

A lot of Boar's are so cheap to begin with, for me, it doesn't make sense. I suppose if I were already a huge Boar fan, and really liked a vintage handle, I'd go for it. Shoot, I just received my first nylon knot for reviving a vintage handle.

I haven't seen anyone mention any knots except badgers for brush restorations. Do any of you guys use boar knots, as well? Why or why not? Thanks!

I restored my old EverReady with a boar knot. Why? Well it was a boar to begin with, and I kinda like boar. And why put Gucci slippers on a street walker.

I was wondering the same. Anyone know the quality of the TGN boars say compared to a semogue or omega. I know they have omega boars, but they need over an inch in diameter opening. Any news on the other boars from them?

i put the 24mm tgn boar in an old ever ready black/tan handle. i forget the exact model, but it was either the 100T or 200T.

i don't use it all that often, but it's nice to keep a boar around. it's finally breaking in, too!

I can't speak to the comparison between the TGN knots and Semogue or Omega brushes, but the Golden Nib knot I put in my EverReady is very nice. Dense, no funky smell, and hasn't shed more than a dozen bristles tops. It's only about 100% better than the original knot.
