Blue Tip Handles?

Question. My first Blue Tip just arrived, and it has an aluminum handle. I know that the Black Tips had both aluminum and steel handles. How about the Blues? This Blue Tip is in great condition with 99.9% of its paint intact, so if they're aren't any steel handled ones out there, I'll probably quit looking.

Thanks in advance.

Those who know better will surely correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I have understood things, all Blue tips have aluminum handles. That is a part of the mild and light concept of the blue tip.

Agreed. It is also why really nice ones, with all the paint and no crud on the neck, are so hard to find. They just didn't age as well as the non-aluminium razors.

They are damn fine razors as far as the shave goes though. A blue-tip and a new feather may exsanguinate you, but you will be buried with a fine, smooth shave.

Avoid boiling and bleach as these will dull or tarnish the aluminium.

Been there, done that.

I've heard it's so cold in Alaska that all the men have blue tips.

That is correct but there is one other option in the Blue Tip range so to speak, the British Blue Tip Rocket which are not aluminum handled.

In your experience will the Blue Tip be OK to clean with Scrubbing Bubbles, & what about MAAS?

The Super-Speed Black Tips were both (1951 and 1952) with a aluminium handle but these razors from 1952 had a metal reinforcing washer in the handle.
I don't know about the british Super-Speed Light (Blue Tip) but all American are with the aluminium handle.

Speaking of blue tips, I've seen pictures with drastically different blues... is this a characteristic of different years? Or just poor quality control?

All OK in my experience.

A good trick with light shaver is to load a really sharp blade (e.g. Feather). Then it's a very close shave.
