Blade question

Dunno if this has ever been asked before.
Would it be feasible to try a blade out (one or two shaves) and then dry it thoroughly and put it back into storage for an indetermined time to be used later or would it most definately "go bad" after being used and re-stored??
Maybe a crazy question but one that has been buggin' me :biggrin1:

For storage, I'm guessing the thing to worry about most would be rust... this is actually something I worry about when I don't shave for a few days. I believe this is part of the reason some people hand strop their blades.

To avoid rust... I'm guessing simply making sure its dry and putting some olive oil or mineral oil would do the trick. Don't know how long this would last... I believe, at least for the feather blades I've used, this is what's in the paper wrapers.

Thanks.
I am guessing that it wouldn't be a bad idea to cork a blade after a use/storage cycle just to make sure the edge was keen and rust free.
