Blade consistency?

As was said in Grey Wolf's "Difference in Blades" thread....

Of course some blades are sharper than others, but the real test is blade smoothness followed by how many times you can use them. The worst blades are the ones that are not consistent in the same package. Smoothness, durability, and consistency are the real measure of a blade not just sharpness.

Which blades take the blue ribbon for consistent shaves?

The smoothest blade?

What blades are durable?

Not a new shaver, just new to more blade options. I've been using Wal-Mart Personna's for a year or two. Completely forgot this little thing called the interweb.

Thoughts? Opinions?

For current production blades you will get a lot of responses I'm sure. I think the Iridium Super can be considered one of the more consistent blades out there, and it ranks right up there in terms of smoothness as well. Feathers are very consistent, also.

As far as NOS blades, they were all very consistent from blade to blade, tho I remember that both the Spoilers and Platinum plus blades would occasionally have a dud in the dispenser. Schick blades seemed a little more consistent.

NOS smoothness kings: Schick Plus Platinum and Wilkinson Light Brigade. Most consistent: Personna and Schick blades.

ymmv.

I found Iridiums consistent as well as IP blades. Sharks were pretty consistent in my book in my book as well. Blue Birds so far have been consistent but I haven't been using them long enough to build a track record, which is about 20 blades so far.

To me, I think the Feathers are more consistent. I don't think I have gotten a bad one yet. And they are fairly durable. I consistently get 3 shaves per blade.

I've had excellent luck with Feathers, Iridiums, 7 O'Clock Yellows, and Red IPs. The Bics are generally good, but not as sharp as the others.

Iridiums for sure.
I did found one feather blade that wasn't great as it should be.
But the Iridiums are top notch in terms of consistency, durability and smoothness. :thumbup1:

What about the mid range sharpness blades?

Like the Green 7 O'clock? I assume the Russian Super Stainless are fine, but how are the PermaSharps from India?
