Birchbox Man

Anyone signed up for Birchbox Man? I just go approved and was thinking of signing up? any suggestions would help

I signed up for it last year but I refrained from buying in, and I'm kind of glad that I didn't. I receive notification every month of what was in the box, and I'm not impressed. However, to be fair, I think I'm biased towards artisan products (RazoRock, Mike's, Mama Bear) and classics (TOBS, T&H). It seems to me that the box usually includes items geared more towards a GQ reader than towards whatever I am.

I've been getting the boxes since last August, if I recall correctly. Most months I'm pretty happy with the haul, but there have been a couple stinkers (why in the world would I want a pink pocket square?). Overall, I'm happy with the service. One of the unexpected things that has made it really worth it for me is the points system for giving feedback. You get 10 points per item for giving feedback, and 100 points is $10 off. When combined with the pretty frequent 20% off codes you get, you can get some good deals. If I was getting the boxes only and not taking advantage of the potential discounts with this system, then I probably wouldn't think it was worth it.

I just got a box today, BTW: a pair of boxer briefs (always appreciated), face lotion, Marvis toothpaste, green shoelaces (dumb), and Billy Jealousy body lotion. Slightly disappointing, but if you figure that a pair of nice boxer briefs are $15 or so, then it's not a bad deal. My favorite stuff to get is shaving products and fragrances. I seem to remember getting a lot of those early on, but haven't been getting enough of those lately.

Shameless plug - if anyone wants an invite, I can send you one and you would help me get some points. Send me a PM with your email. Thanks!

I'm a subscriber and I do enjoy getting my box each month. I say try it for a month or 2. You can always cancel at anytime, the customer service has been great in my experience so far.

My box included 2 pair of loafer socks (surprisingly awesome), organic sunscreen, woven belt, toothpaste, and the previously discussed lotion.

I just got my box on saturday, 2 loafer socks which are indeed wonderful, wearing a pair right now! Hangover vitamins which I promptly lost while drinking... go figure. Billy jealousy peppermint face scrub, decent. Some black pepper body wash, and woven belt. I don't know how long I'll stick with it, but it's nice to try some new stuff out, although I'd dig it more if it was all shave all the time :w00t:

Maybe we need to suggest to our vendors somthing along these lines of a monthly shave box with samples of different things in it? I'd buy in.

A couple different blades, a couple differnt soaps with just enough to shave a couple times, maybe some aftershave samples and balm.

I've been a subscriber since last summer. I actually blame them for getting me started down the DE shaving road. Like someone else mentioned, they used to send a lot of shaving samples. Until recently it seems like I was always getting either some cream or aftershave balm in the box, and I had to figure out how to use it. So I bought a brush, and that led to me finding even more (and some nicer) creams and aftershaves, and, finally, decided to make the switch to a safety razor.

Sidebar: SWMBO bought me the safety razor. She stumbled on an AoS store and went in, remembering that I had said I might want to try one. Not remembering what it was called she promptly asked if she could see their "face-ty" razors because it was a razor for your face. Safety, facety. It's all the same, right? So, around my house, we no longer call them safety razors.

Back to topic, try the BB out. If you don't like it you can always stop. It's $20 a month. Most months I feel like I get my $20 worth. The months that I don't, I'll end up getting a box shortly that makes up for it. I also like the points system. Right now I've got $40 worth of points that I'm waiting to use on something....just waiting on them to get some shave stuff that I don't already have.

That's exactly how I started getting into this whole thing. I got some proraso in a birchbox and felt like I wasn't using it right because it wasn't lathering when I rubbed it on my face. I did a little research and ended up lurking on this forum.

On another note, in the sense of a deal, they have a Father's Day box that is a heck of a deal right now(over 100$ worth of stuff for 48$). You can also go to the Bonus Shop and choose a freebie, most of them qualify with the Father's Day box(which also has free shipping.) I bought three in separate orders so I could get the freebies with each. One for me, my dad, and my father in law. If you aren't already a member make sure you set up a sign-in account so you can get the points for it.

As for the monthly subscription, I think the profile you fill out when you sign up for it is reasonably extensive. They give you stuff in the box that you will almost certainly use and then throw in a couple twists that you may or may not have interest in. I will say I've received a few items that I never would have purchased on my own but I ended up using and liking.

Another thing, members basically get 5$ credit for every referral they get so shoot me or another one of these fellas a pm for the referral info so we can get credit
