Is the sweatband leather ? 3X beaver ?? is the brom edge lined with fabric or raw ?...Lining looks good...I've had a few Biltmores over the years, good hats, but not the same as a $1k Borsalino, which is way out of my budget....nice style on this one...I just replaced my old Panama with a little better one from Monterrey Hat co. ,on sale @ $240 from $300,seems to be a nice tight weave, again, the Borsalinos are great, but Monterrey gives them a good run for the $$$..Let us know how it looks when you get it.

I have an older one. Great soft felt. The sweat band is good. Overall a great modern day factory produced hat. Only negative is it is not that good with a rain, the brim curled up pretty good. If I was to wear it often I would give it a shot of scotch guard about every three to four months...... Biltmore got bought out my Hatco lately. Does the sweatband say Made in Canada at all?

Leather bands are the way to go...cloth absorbs moisture and odors, leather can be saddle soaped and will repel...Not edging the brim edge is a money saving step, but the worst money saver is not lining the hat at all !..Liners and sweatbands can easily be replaced by a good hatter..Runs about $25 here for the sweatband,leather...

i am fine with a flip sewn brim or raw , but why would raw be a money saver and i always stem and form myself and make my own feathers

this is my Stetson "45 ashton" and some feathers

Beautiful feathers, and great cigar art !.In the old days in Oakland ,calif. there was a really top notch old hatter, Andrew Gross , and we would have our hats made from scratch there. To line the brim edge was always extra money,in the 1960's probably 5 bucks extra,I can't remember the price now,but you paid extra for that beautiful trim.

ah I see , it is an aestedic value we are talking here , personnally i like a raw brim or at least the same material rolled over , i am more the blue collar look as opposed to high society trimmings , the ole honeymooners look , "Ralphy baby , heh heh heh heh " i am a sewer tec"

Nice looking hat! Did you order it direct from Biltmore?

Interesting on making your own feathers... seems like you have a whole storage unit up there in the band. I pulled the feathers out of all my fedoras, just not my style.

got it on an ebay dealer, decent price 130.00 new--for me the feathers say it all, and the toothpick means my 45th b-day

That's cool.is the tooth pick thing common? I've never heard of it but it reminds me of some lobstermen type code using bouys off the side of your boat. What's the rosebud for?

i like originality and personalize everything i own, i came up with the toothpick thing , but i am sure there were others before me, it just holds them so well as far as the rose it just seemed right and dried so nice

i just got it but it says made in the USA, i wonder , i know biltmore was bought out/subsiderie by Dorfman Pacific hum

Hmmm...I haven't seen the Made in USA, but last time I was at the hatter (on Saturday to pick up a couple I took in for cleaning and blocking) I didn't check. I'll have a look and see if the ones up here say Canada. Mine says

I called biltmore up and they where bought out by an american company in Texas in 2011 they said they still use the same material and suppliers that the original owner used

Yeah, I remember reading about them struggling a few years ago. It's sad to see a Canadian company be sold, but at least they've kept it going. My Biltmore was bought in 07, so that must be why it says Canada.
