Bill's Khakis

Anyone here own some Bill's Khakis? I tried a pair on the other day, and they fit great, looked good and would be custom hemmed, but I don't know if they looked $100 good. Are they comparable to Dockers, Land's End or other similar khakis?

I was thinking that might be the case... I was looking at the M2 flat fronts. I was thinking the quality or longevity must be excellent. Hopefully a few more can offer up their thoughts.

I have heard nothing but good things about Bill's. But with the kind of price tag they carry, I would have to justify to SWMBO in a way that highlights their durability as a long term ROI when compared to a Gap khaki.

I've had the M2 and M2P khakis and a pair of pale blue chambray limited edition and found them to be excellent quality and long lasting. The attention to detail is very good. Like everything else, the relative cost compared to no-name khakis from Target or KMart may be hard to justify.

They pop up for cheapish on eBay quite a bit, new and used. I've been tempted to get a pair but am forcing myself to wait on an investment like that until I stabilize my weight (downward.)

I have a pair, that I wear for work, they have outlasted any khakis I have ever owned. You can pretty easily get 3x the wear out of Bills vs Dockers.

They are pricy, but worth it in my opinion

I have a pair as well, they are built very well IMO, seem to take a lot of wear. They are more expensive then the alternatives, but by the time you get something on par quality wise, they are pretty close, at least as I have found anyway. It is a pain that they do not offer a a hemming service though.

I have four pairs, and I think they are great. I think they make me look slightly slimmer than other pleated khakis. (I am slightly overweight, BMI = 25.1) I also like how the deep pockets don't bulge out when you put a pair of keys or a pocket knife in them.

I found all of them at Nordstrom Rack for under $40 each. If you can't find them there or on eBay, maybe you could wait for a sale at the retailer(s) near you that carry them?

I own two pairs of Bills Khakis and find them to be the some of the best pants I've ever worn. They wear well, the styling is great, and I feel good about wearing something that's made in America.

I'll certainly be buying more from Bills Khakis in the future.

Bill's Khakis are made in the USA and that partially explains their relatively high prices. But you really do get what you pay for with these excellent pants. The original khakis are made from really heavy weight cotton (8.5 ounces per square yard) and they will last longer than most LL Bean or Lands End similar slacks. You can find them for the full price on their own site and often discounted at Sierra Trading

Never seen the Bill's over here in Britain but I know of them. I have a pair of the Orvis khakis, also not cheap but excellent quality. Very well cut and made. Same 8.5oz material I seem to remember.

Also they DO offer a free hemming service. Straight or turnups.

Got several pairs of Barbour khakis at Orvis when they discontinued them, what a super quality they are! Never had a better made pair of khakis. They are normally expensive, but the sale was such a deal so I picked up four pairs:biggrin::biggrin:

Agreed, Orvis khakis are top notch. If sign up for their email notifications, you'll often find them on sale at a very good price.

Just to update my thread that got bumped, I picked a pair of Bill's M2s up off STP a while back. They are currently sitting at the tailors waiting for me to pick them up. I will update after wearing them a bit.

The Orvis Ultimate Khakis, which some say are Bill's equals, are currently on sale, two pairs for $99. You can get just one, but that'll cost you $79. I don't have 'em and can't vouch for them, but they got some love on the Askandyaboutclothes forum a couple of weeks back.
