I had this blade for some time, I like the etching, the scales were shot.

I rescaled it with Brazilian Rose Wood with a bone wedge. I will hone it in the next few days.

I'm guessing the "Safety" comes from the fact that the bicycle we know today was called the "safety bicycle", as opposed to the quite dangerous high-wheelers. How exactly a straight razor carries that name is beyond me.

nice job Doc!!! dig that Bicycle etching and the scales!

trivia tidbit - Alum is an ingredient in Play Doh! tho doubt it will stop a weeper :)

Looks fantastic, Alfredo! Some more info on the blade? Manufacturer, average period, quality of steel? Your job rescaling is AMAZING.

I'm afraid I can't give you much more information. The tang reads "Imperial Razor Warranted, Registered 20507, Germany" I would guess it is from the turn of the century. The steel is good, takes on a very nice edge.

Imperial was a brand of A. Kastor & Bros., made in their Germania Cutlery plant in Solingen, Germany. The registration number 20507 was used after 1896. The razor was probably made before 1920.
They made good razors, using Swedish steel from 1902 until the Nazis seized the company in 1938.
Nice restore, Doc.
