What's new

Best Shave? And I dont just mean BBS.

Gents,

I just had the pleasure of a dfs with my straight. Probably not the finest shave I've given myself yet. However, it is probably the best because if you told my 10-year-old self, that there would be a day where I'd shave with a straight, before getting into a tux, bow-tie, the works, and heading out to a black tie ball with a stunner on my arm, 10-year-old me would have fallen on the floor laughing at the absurdity of the awesomeness of it all. In short, I think I just rediscovered the child in me that used to rehearse his Bond line in-front of the mirror, because I was sad like that. Turns out I still am. :biggrin1:

For me, this is probably a stand out shave so far. Albeit for some rather bazaar reasons. My question is, any of you gents have a similar stand out shave, for reasons other than the perfection of the shave itself?

My first shave with an old W&B near-wedge. Rich patina, old gothic-font etching contrasted with a very shiny bevel. It was ~straight shave 15-20, right about when things had almost clicked but not quite. Lathered up and just enjoyed bringing back to life that 120+ year old bad boy, ready for its new life with me. Was nice to be a part of the chain of men who had used and enjoyed the blade.

Since then I've shaved with older ones, but that one shave really hit me.

I went to a celebration recently too. DE shave, great closeness and comfort, great tradition. Then, dress in black tie and out the door. Wow!

i have been having those quite often now with my Weber DLC with one and two shims! i have no idea what is happening, but i hope it continues!
i guess i could start dancing in front of the mirror to see if it helps with the shaves. Hee hee.
Enjoy your straight!
