Best option to get that Sandalwood smell? Cream/soap/aftershave?

Hey all,
I started my DE journey with a gift of "Art of Shaving's" Sandal wood cream. It was great and left my skin smelling amazing. When moving on to buy my own I got TOBS in sandalwood which I find to be good but not smell as potent/good as the art of shaving option. My question to you guys is which is the best budget option soap/cream for that strong sandalwood smell?

I know everyone this is subjective but assume I'm looking for a something a bit more potent than TOBS but around the same price range. Alternatively I will also entertain ideas of possibly using an aftershave cream that smells of sandalwood if that would work better since you wash of the shaving cream/soap but not the aftershave. If so, recommendations?

As always thank you B&B for advice. If you post here you should feel just as good as if you had helped a stranger jump start their dead car battery. I know I appreciate it the same.

I replied in your same thread in the soap section that you should try the Cyril Salter Sandalwood Cream, very strong scent that lingers for a few hours after the shave. When I slim down my soap/cream selection I will definitely be trying some more of their creams.

Proraso Red, from what I've read on B&B this is what "true" sandalwood is supposed to smell like. To me it almost smells like wet earth, it's refreshing but not one of my favorite smells, but the lather does wonders for my skin.

That's interesting, because a lot of the reviews I read for TOBS Sandalwood felt that the scent was TOO strong. (Yet another YMMV I guess.)

After the AoS Sandalwood scent, my fave is TOBS Sandalwood...A perfect blend of scent with exceptional performance.

Buy some KMF unscented and add your own essential oil. This is what I do so I can make whatever scent I like and as strong as I like.

A small bottle of Indian Sandalwood (santalum album) is a bit pricey, but it will go long way.

Thanks guys, i'm considering all the options with availability and price. Thinking either Proraso, EJ, CE, or Cyril Indian. Problem with Cyril is that I can't find it anywhere for under 15-20.
If anyone is selling any extras/leftovers etc PM me. (I'd post in the shave mall but too few posts.)

One of my favorite sandalwood shaving creams is a private label brand, Green Pond. It comes in a 5.3 oz. plastic jar and sells currently $19.75 per jar or $32.00 for 2 jars. This cream was manufactured by Creighton for DR Harris, who in turn sold it to and packaged it for a vendor in the Atlanta, GA area. The scent is fairly strong, with a slight note of camphor. Of note is that the entire batch of this product is from the pre-reformulation days. It has been out of production for 5 + years. I'm on my last jar (bought a couple of years ago) of it right now, and the product is still in very good shape. Its scent is an almost exact match for the DR Harris sandalwood after shave lotion, which is a traditional alcohol based lotion with plenty of staying power. I usually use it as I would a cologne. I'm not primarily a user of alcohol based after shaves; however, I use it as an after shave from time to time. It works pretty well.

Indian made Mysore Sandal soap is one of the few soaps made that uses 100% sandalwood oil. Even though it is a bath soap, I like to take and grate some of a bar and mix it with an unscented shaving soap. The Mysore lathers pretty well on its own, so it doesn't take away from the shaving soap, and it is so strong on the sandalwood scent, it doesn't take much to scent an entire shaving puck.

Beast sandalwood shave soap/cream: QCS Mysore Sandalwood hands down. ASB: Caswell Massey Sandalwood. AS: D.R. Harris Sandalwood (BUT a bit more woody than I would really like, but nice and very long llasting)
AOS Sandalwood AS has the best reputation, but I have not tried it YET. Proraso Red, while some love it, I think it smells like scented wet cardboard.

Art of Shaving Sandalwood and Proraso Red are very nice. I heard a rumor of a Proraso Red aftershave coming, but I'm not holding my breath.

It's really strong upon application, however, after, I can tell you from personal experience that it has my wife purring like a kitten lol:thumbup:
