What's new

best medium agressiveness open comb? Current prod or vintage matters not...

After trying the straight razor thing for a month and a half, I have given up on that pursuit on a serious dedicated level. SO... I have been shaving with a Merkur closed comb 1904 since I started using a DE months ago, and I wanna try something else.

I have been looking at a lot of the vintage OC models, but there are so many year models I really have no idea what to look for. I had looked at the 1918 military, NEW, NEW improved, Bostonian (which I guess the only thing that makes it that is the box it comes in compared to other NEW models), and a muehle R41. I want something that is not too aggressive, but not as forgiving as what I am using now. Specific year models would be great if suggesting a vintage. To be honest with you I kinda would rather find a vintage first.

You know the search function works nicely. I did find out a bunch of info but any suggestions would still be nice.

I could always get a replated new from cooncatbob too.

Hello,

Let me be dissident here.
Though I have a NEW and thoroughly enjoy it, i would recommend the new Muhle as you ask for a non-aggressive Open Comb.

The Muhle is just that: an hassle free, effective modern razor with excellent build quality.

It is available in black handle:
proxy.php

and in chrome

Both are 30 euros.

The gillette NEW. It's a hassle free, effective vintage razor with excellent build quality.
It doesn't cost 30 euros though.
And the NEW holds the blade better with it's long slot channel, than any 'two post' razors
