Best badger brush for face lathering? £35 or $55 budget

Suggestions please.
I have an Art of Shaving pure badger brush at the moment & it's ok, but I'd ideally like something a little softer & more luxurious feeling & something that won't shed several hairs on my face each time I shave.

FS finest with the tubby / chubby handle, 26/56 All in for around £27 inc stand. Mine has not shed a single hair in 9 months and has been in the rotation every week since purchase.

My advice would be to get 3-4 brush handles off ebay, remove the knots, measure them, order them (you need more than 1 at the time) and glue them. You will then be able to try many hair grades for a cheap price and it should cost you around what you listed.

I've heard that the Simpson Colonel tends to hog the lather. I use TOBS creams, so I'd like something that is soft & yields lather easily.
Anyone here tried the Edwin Jagger best badger?

I have both the EJ BB and the Colonel. I much prefer the Colonel. It does hog lather a bit, but it's much denser than the EJ so is to be expected, it's not a massive hog though imo i.e. the hogging doesn't leave me short of lather to complete my shave. The Colonel really makes short work of TOBS cream for me, I get a good lather in about half the time with the Colonel compared to the EJ BB.

Oh also, I've just seen that this is about face lathering. I'm not a face latherer myself, but I have face lathered in the past, and I don't think the EJ BB is really suited to it. I mean, you can face lather with it, but the Simpsons, is softer, shorter and has more backbone. The EJ has a bit of prickliness to it and splays a bit too easily for really good face lathering.

I had both the Simpson colonel and commodore x2. Both are excellent bang for your buck brushes, that are not lather hogs.
For face lathering, I highly recommend the commodore.

Well, after looking at various reviews, I've gone & thrown a bit of a curve-ball.
I just purchased this silvertip:

Simpson Berkeley 46 Best - wonderful brush :thumbup1:

Boar brushes are hard to beat for face lathering. A nice stiff Omega comes at a great price point.

This.

The Omega Pro 49 will be significantly softer and feel more luxurious than your current AOS. My boars have shed or broken a bristle here and there, but-at their price point-it's no big deal.

Goodluck.

I have a Wet Shaving Products silvertip, very dense and soft with good backbone, excellent on face lathering
