Best aftershave for soothing razor burn and irritation.

If a shave went bad and I was left with an irritated face, which aftershave would be best to soothe the skin and help calm the redness? Right now I am using the Proraso aftershave balm and its good. I was just wondering if there is something better out there. Thanks so much.

I think that Proraso AS balm is very good... Maybe Nivea Senstive balm or L'Oreal...

I like the Ogallala bay rum. It does not burn my face like some other AS do.

But of course every one is different.

The Pre de Provence balm is what I reach for after a rough shave. It works wonders, and the scent is very soothing as well! I've tried half a dozen balms and PdP is easily the best for razor burn and irritation.

I have tried multiple aftershave splashes, lotions and balms. I have used skin lotions, alum blocks and witch hazel. For post-shave irritation, nothing comes close to the effectiveness of Speick ASL. I doubt I would ever have heard of it, let alone tried it, had it not been for reading about it on B&B. Since trying it, I'll never be without a bottle on hand.

Wow, that sounds like exactly the product I would need. Thanks for sharing.

To be honest with everyone, I am not in this game to save money but rather to enjoy myself. I think I am going to purchase the Speick AS Lotion, the Pre de Provence and probably the Men-U Moisturizer/AS as well. I don't think there is a way to do this other than to try them all.

The "When In Doubt, Buy Everything" philosophy will serve you well in your wetshaving forays!

That is the kind of AD attitude we like around here!

While not an aftershave, for me Corn Huskers Lotion fights the burn when used as an aftershave like nothing else that I have tried (I have not tried Speick though).

Witch Hazel - no burn, just enough alcohol to kill the baddies. That's been enough for me for a while, but I used to top it off with nivea sensitive skin balm when I first started and was getting hamburger face. Also work great after shaving with a Fusion. :D

I have tried a dozen balms, literally, and the best for me is Nivea Extreme Comfort. It is by far the best at calming and helping injured skin. I keep on on my work truck, car, and in the shave den. It is cheap just give it a try I don't think you will be sorry.

Pinaud Clubman After Shave. I use it for good shaves, and bad shaves.

It lets you know which one you just had, quickly.
