Beautiful butterscoth beehive brush

BBBB on B&B. I recently bought a beautiful butterscotch beehive brush from Rudy Vey. It's a 22 mm silvertip knot set at 45 mm loft. The handle is a beauty, plenty of grip and very comfortable to use as well as looking sharp. The TGN grade A silvertip knot is excellent - soft tips, dense and plenty of backbone with the short loft. The bristle reminds me of Savile Row or Shavemac in quality - springy with soft tips.

Rudy was a pleasure to work with - he turned the handle the same day that I contacted him and then sent me a pic before glueing the knot in place.

Ya know I never was a fan of butterscotch even though I usually gravitate towards unique things. But, that beehive brush with the cut grooves, in that color, really do look amazing. Super nice looking brush you have. Will you trade for a tube of ARKO? :w00t:

Seriously though, who do I have to e-mail to get one like that?

I'd suggest look up Rudy Vey on the member list and go from there.

Ahhh the Beehive. My vote for the 2010 B&B LE. That is, if our fearless leaders haven't burnt themselves out on the 09 and sworn future brushes off.:001_cool:

I like it too, really cool. I think I'll look up Rudy. How do I find the list? It's probably right in front of me.

Rick,

Are the grooves sanded and polished. They look unfinished in your photo, or is that just soap residue? Great looking brush. Seeing these is bad news, indeed.

Thanks,
-Andy

I have seen this now twice, I think it is somehow reflection of the pigments with the flash. The pictures I take are done with photo lights and do not show this effect, weird, though. I attach a picture of the brush that I took before sending it out. I do not use flash for these pictures, I use a photo tent and 150 W Fluorescent bulbs with 5500 K color temp, i.e. daylight.

Actually, the groves are turned and then sanded and polished and buffed.

Hi Rudy,

I figured they would be sanded and polished, knowing the quality of your work. I saw that in 2 separate photos too, and thought it was strange. Thanks for clearing that up. I may have to commission a beehive at some point.

Cheers,
-Andy

My photo skills are not that good - in "real life" the brush looks great - no sign of any issues. I've run into similar things with razors - a really beauty looks a bit off in the photo.

Hey, that looks like the photo Rudy sent to me of my Beehive to get my approval before he glued the knot. Isn't she beautiful?
