Good Evening Gentlemen. I just got done with my 4th wet-shave ever (since starting 2 weeks ago) and I think I just achieved BBS! I shaved with no nicks or cuts and did a first pass WTG, a second pass XTG, and third pass ATG and then did a couple of touch ups and, with the honest exception of a spot or two on my neck, I stroked my face and didn't feel ANY stubble at all! Today's shave was also the first time trying out my new Merkur HD 34C (with the sample Merkur blade that came with it in the order) I think I achieved BBS, but is this possible on just my 4th wet-shave ever?

Of course it is. Just keep working on your technique, and you'll do it every time.

Isn't it nice when things come together? A good part of what all of us do in this hobby is analyze what worked and what didn't in any given shave and make adjustments in the next. 'Sounds like it's come together well.

Congrats! Yes possible, doesn't happen very often. Now, you need to make sure that you won't be tempted to go quicker and apply pressure!

It's entirely possible. What's going to happen now is that you're going to assume you've got this whole thing figured out, and tear your face to shreds a few times being careless. And then you'll learn the lesson from that and get back to good shaves again.

I remember when everything came together on my first BBS. Subsequent shaves weren't as good because I became overzealous in terms of technique. Take your time and enjoy the shave, the amazing shaves will come naturally.

I'm still a noob, but my first ever wet shave, though not nearly BBS, gave me absolutely zero irritation and felt good because I went very slowly and carefully. Then my next few shaves were pretty bad because I thought I was good already, was going too fast and applied pressure without knowing it. So just make sure you do exactly the same thing you did that time if it was BBS.

I beg to differ. The perfect shave only comes once you buy the perfect razor. Which only comes once you have the experience to buy the perfect razor. Which only comes after you buy and use numerous razors seeking perfection.
And of course, then you have to do the same with the blades....
And then there's the soap/cream combos. Oh, and the brushes......
Sigh! Maybe the perfect shave only comes once you have a household full of shaving paraphernalia and can try out all possible combination's!
