Barber hone for knife sharpening

My intuition says barber hones are too fine for knives. Is anyone using them for sharpening? If so, how are they deployed?

You could use one as a finishing stone, I suppose. After all, axe racers use them on axes.

A bit on the short side for larger knives. Probably easier with pocket knives.

I wouldn't use on on a kitchen knife, for exactly the reason you say - gonna be too fine, too hard, and probably too small.

Should probably be a pretty good option for folding / edc / fixed blades though, especially for 'in the field' sharpening.

I've no experience with barber hones, but based solely on what I've read of them they should make a decent finisher.
