BAD-blades acquisition disorder

I didn't use to hoard blades, but today something just snapped and I ordered 100 Gillette Silver Blues, 100 Personna Reds, and 100 Voshods.
Please say something that will make me feel better...

It's not like they're going to go bad.....the price might double overnight and you'll be glad you bought so many. That's what I tell my wife anyway.

Although 300 new blades is significant, I suspect this represents 'scratching the surface' in terms of your now apparent BAD. I predict many more new blades in the near future for you!

Sorry ... I'm not certain if that makes you feel better ...

Sounds normal. My minimum buy is always 100 - even if just to test a blade. If I like it, I'll already have some (and I'll probably soon order 1000 more for my stash). If I don't, I'll share the brick for my friends to try.
I don't think I have a BAD - it's just common sense to have some backup blades.

Here's an opportunity to do something you may otherwise not have.

Use a single blade for every shave. That's what I do.

All great blades you ordered, they definitely won't go to waste, if you don't like them you can always sell them here and recoup some of your money.

Words fail me. But I realized that even at age 57.5 I have an ample supply of blades (roughly 700 or so) and if I use them up before I finally get away, it will be an event. I'm thinking three, maybe four shaves and out may make a dent in my on-hand stock.

I currently have 300 blades and I'm contemplating my next 100.... I think it will be 100 more GSB's, after my second shave with them I can see them becoming my favorite, so smooth and sharp, much more forgiving than the feather, and gave me the smoothest shave I've ever had.

After that I don't know, I have 100 feathers, 100 Labs, and 100 GSB's..... what else should I add to my collection?

i have personna 100 labs, hated the blue bird, reminded me too much of the poor shave I got from the Derby, the SI is hard to come by and almost too pricy, the shark SC is nice and as are the Personna platinum (red pack)

Thanks for the suggestions

Bluebirds I found different from and superior to Derby blades. Go figure, huh? The Super Iridiums are back in different packaging and getting competitive in price; keep half an eye out for 'em. Israeli Reds have not worked in any razor for me. The blues and the various Made-In-U.S.A. Personnas are wonderful for me.

Enjoy the search!

While I am relatively new to DE shaving, that is how I am with things. I don't mind sharing things with my friends. It gives us some nice things to talk about.

When my oldest friend from high school found out that I had started DE shaving, he found his grandfather's razor the same day. I pulled a few packs out of the assorted blades I have and now he is enjoying his new shaving experience while connecting with the memories of his grandpa. Well worth the $10 or so I might spend on some blades that don't work for me.

I do the same almost every month.

Shipping to Brazil is expensive and does not worth buying a few ones.

Even if you don't use all them in a few decades you will be a rich man selling this as vintage new old stock at eBay, because in this shaving forum we will be discussing how good were those blades made in 2012....

WOW what a relief, I was getting worried that my 150 or so blades in the cupboard was overkill.

Not too mention my 7 or so cream/soaps in rotation (and 20 odd samples in the cupboard). :biggrin1:

You can be sure that you are being very very modest.

At least by now.

I don't think your orders were unreasonable. In particular, the GSB's are no longer being produced, so if it's a good blade for you, you'll be glad you stocked-up before they became unobtanium.
