What's new

baby cigar

My wife and I are expecting the birth of our first child in July. The baby girl will also be the first grandchild on both sides. I would like to hand out "It's a Girl" cigars. However, I would like to avoid buying crap cigars and get something a little classier. any suggestions?

Fuentes are great cigars. My go-to brand for giveaways is Macanudo. The prices are fair and while they might not be the best available, nearly everyone seems to enjoy them.

Skip the printing on the side. Tie a pink ribbon around each cigar - people will know. Or you could add a little tag to the ribbon that says "It's a girl!"

P.S. Congrats on the little one! My best wishes to you and your (soon to be larger) family!

Congratulations on the new arrival!

As others have said, get a box of the Arturo Fuente "Itsa ___" cigars to pass around to your friends, neighbors and co-workers. Yes, they're cheap, but they're a decent smoke. But bear in mind that most people you give them to aren't going to smoke them anyway ... they just get tossed in a drawer.

And get half a dozen or so super-fine-primo sticks for the immediate family. That includes You, the grandads, and any brothers and uncles. Ask your tobacconist for advice, or if someone in the family is a cigar smoker, have them pick out something upscale, glorious and indulgent for the inner circle to enjoy. (All of you don't have to be smoking the same thing, btw. You can mix it up and get a variety, and sit around smoking and compare notes.)

The first-born child is a once in a lifetime event, so live it up.

Davidoff makes "It's a Girl" cigars, in tubos with the text on the tube. Can't get much classier than that.

Actually, Arturo sells their curly heads with "it's a ----" printed on the cello. I still have a few cigars of each aging in the humidor. Maybe I can smoke it when they leave the house one day =P

Mousey,

I have one of the cigars I passed out when my 1st daughter was born. She is now 12 and I plan on smoking it when she graduates college. BTW, it was a curly head with printed cello.
