Ayar's bowl & SRD bowl

Can anyone compare/contrast the Ayar's lather bowl (also known as Sara's bowl) with the shaving bowl over at SRD (Straight Razor Designs)?

Ayar's/Sara's bowl looks like it has a bit more ridging, but the SRD bowl has that slight inward curving lip (and is less $$). I wonder if anyone's tried them both and could comment?

I have not used those exact bowls, but in comparison to similar bowls and shaving mugs. I prefer the ayer's type buy a mile. Any lip for me inhibits the nice open room to wipe the brush and lather around for effectiveness. I am not an expert, but this is what I find to be true.

If I were in the bowl market, I would get the "Bill Bowl" from Dirty Bird Pottery.

I have the Ayars Bowl, but have not tried the one from SRD. The Ayars bowl is a high quality piece with a ridged bottom and nice glazing. You can easily whip up a bowl of lather from soaps or creams with no problem. That said, if cost is an issue, you can find any number of other bowls that work just as well for a fraction of the cost. I purchased it early in my "acquisition phase" of traditional wet shaving, and would not do so again.
