What's new

Aurora Ipsilon

Hello, everyone. i am new to fountain pens and i was wondering what you thought of the Aurora Ipsilon fountain pens. Any information on the nibs, how they write, any issues with them, and if they only accept converters would be much appreciated. Also, would $90 be a good price for a used one?
Thanks and i hope you are enjoying your writing instruments.

The Aurora Ipsilon is a fine pen. The cap is not a screw type, clicks on and off easily yet securely (snaps on for posting too!), and the gold plated steel nibs works well with some tooth.

Parker cartridges are compatible so you may have easier to find ink sources in the US. The converter should be fine, I modified one of mine to a bulb-type filler (squeeze sac). I like mine and the way it writes, there is some talk about "tooth" with this model but I don't mind. It's an inexpensive intro to Italian pens.

I wouldn't get too excited about a $90 price tag (used) as you can find them new in a beautiful presentation box for $100 all day long. Unless of course it's an Ipsilon Deluxe and has a 14K gold nib and then I'd jump - I've only tried the steel nib pens with the resin bodies too, there are some more expensive chrome and other fancy finishes.

* Doug, thanks for your advice. i will pass on the one i saw then, and keep searching for another fine fountain pen. i hope you have a great day.

celestino, I own an Blue Ipsilon Deluxe with a fine nib like Doug mentioned. I bought mine used three years ago from a fellow on the Fountain Pen Network. It is a value priced pen with a nice 14k nib, it is very reliable, and is trouble free. I would recommend this pen to you. It uses cartridges or converter. I prefer the converter. My pen lays a very fine and confident line. If you are new at FP's, I would suggest that you check out the FPN. You can find out anything you need to know about any pen.
