ASB: which of these 3?

Hi guys,

I'm looking for the best ASB; i don't want Musgo, Proraso, Weleda, Nivea, Gillette or La Toya for several reasons (tried them all).

I've searched this forum and came to these 3, which one would you choose/rate best?

1. Hydrolast peppermint after shave cream

2. Mama Bears After Shave (milk)

3. Gentleman's Refinery "The Standard" after shave balm

Thanks in advance!

The Gentlemen's Refinery. Pricey, but it's amazing stuff

I have the lime/green tea Hydrolast conditioner and I can't speak highly enough about it.

I am looking forward to trying the Peppermint next time I buy.

Never tried any of the above.... but SCS after shave milk (any of them) and Gents best sig line ASM....both are out of this world !!!!!

Because i've read that Dr. Harris after shave milk is less effective than the the Gentleman's Refinery asb! Especially after the reformulation.

I have a sample of MB Mandarin Ice, and love it. It's down to the last couple drops so time to get a full size.

gentlemen's refinery is my favorite. light. non-greasy. soothing.

i prefer the standard to the unscented because the unscented still has a scent and for me it's not as pleasant.

it's pricey, but it decants a small amount which is all you need and it'll last a very long time

I've also read good thing about SCS AS Milk, what do you think about this! PfffF, so much decisions.... :D

Gentlemen's Refinery all the way. Just used it tonight. Absolutely amazing stuff. I bought the standard scented and it's very light and dissipates very quickly. Non-greasy, soothing, moisturizing, healing, and a little goes a long way. When I have a rough shave and need to stave off irritation I reach for this stuff.

Best balm I've come across? Tabac! Whenever I see another post about Tabac being the best high-end soap I have to restrain myself from arguing (it is neither high-end nor the best IMO) but sofar their balm is unbeatable in my book. Absorbed right away so no sticky feeling and enough alcohol to kill the little critters.

And the scent is the best in their range. Well, again IMO!

Thanks for the answers guys! I will buy TGR soon, as i get my paycheque. LOL

I've requested for a sample of the standard, but haven't got a reply yet.
I hope they are willing to send me one (will pay for it), as i've bought too much asb and threw them in the bin 2 days later (like will happen with the Weleda balm soon )...

TGR (I have the unscented) is really good (maybe the best I've tried), I just got Speick which I really like and Castle Forbes Lavender (which I haven't tried yet).

I have not used any of the AS balms that you mentioned but I have used Nivea and TOBS if you care to consider others. I have TOBS Mr. Taylor and Shaving Shop Luxury AS balms and like them very much. The fragrance of these products is wonderful and the efficacy is excellent. The Nivea products are excellent products and a very good value.

Regards,

Doug

Hi Doug,

Thanks for giving me other options, but i didn't really care for Nivea (or the other brand in my first post). Don't know why, just didn't like them performancewise or worst; scentwise.

I was just looking for a comparison between these 3!

Thanks for your reply and have a nice day! (Y)
