AS that smells like Proraso/SMN?

I'm guessing that the Proraso AS would be my best bet, but maybe there's something that smells more like these two creams...?

Guess again. The Proraso AS (both splash and balm) smells nothing like either cream. I haven't personally smelled any AS that smells like them, but I've often wondered if some combination offered by TSD might fill the bill. I've toyed with the idea of a menthol/eucalyptus TSD combo, but I'm not sure how close it would be. I have smelled eucalyptus EO, which is what JoAnne uses to scent, and it is very medicinal and herbal. The Proraso/SMN smell is quite a bit mellower. But perhaps a mint/menthol combo might work. I'll be interested to hear what others have to say.

Well i think all proraso product (except aloe) smell pretty damn similar.

Hmm... Well, everybody's nose is different, but I don't find the citrus notes of the AS to have much in common with the Eucalyptus notes of the shaving cream. But maybe that's just me.

Agreed with Nomed, they pretty much smell alike except for Proraso white (aloe).

So, Nomed and Luc, are you saying that the Proraso and SMN creams actually smell roughly the same as the Proraso aftershave, or are you saying they complement each other well? I do think they go together just fine, but I do not find that they smell the same. But like I said, everybody's nose is different. In the end, Matthew may just have to buy it and see for himself.

Matthew, I don't imagine you'd be sorry going with the Proraso splash anyway. It's still a darn good aftershave, and even if you agree with me that it doesn't match the smell of the cream, I do think you'll find that they go together well. If you really want the whole Proraso "experience," start with the Pre/Post, lather up with the cream, and follow with the splash. And if you really want to have fun, try showering with Magno soap before the shave. You'll be in Euro grooming heaven.

I would say roughly the same, nothing is the same... They also go well together, of course!

+1. I get eucalyptus and menthol from all of them, just in different amounts, and with a few added notes. Pre is all menthol, the balm has an almost "chalk like" smell to it, and both the balm and splash have some citrus and other notes mixed in.
