Art of Shaving Lavender smells like Anise or Licorice

I just received AOS Lavender cream in a trade, but it seems to smell more like anise and licorice than lavender. Does anyone else find this to be true?

To me the Lavender of AOS really comes out when lathering. It's not nearly as noticeable when it's in the tub. I can't really remember if the scent resembles anise when in the tub, however.

Have a tube I rarely use because of the absence of scent. What there is smells vaguely of mint. To be fair, I seem to have a hard time detecting lavender if anything. Which is why I've stopped buying it.

Yup, smells very much like anise/licorice.

I like the scent of my AOS Lavender cream but you guys are right it doesnt really smell like straight lavender its got another scent going on which I cant quite put my finger on. Regardless of the scent this cream gives me consistently good results so i cant really complain.
