Does anyone know if these are vintage? I believe they are I just want to make sure, to make it easier to track down more of them. I received a few of these from a member here from the UK. I've since deleted the PM exchange and have no idea who he was :blushing:

These things are AWESOME. wait let me say that again.......AWESOME!

I remember using the same one I used tonight when I first got them, it was great then, i put it up and never used it again. cut to a few months later, I saw it tonight in the cabinet and loaded it up after an unsuccessful couple strokes with a Topaz blade. HOLY SMOKES what an awesome shave! I definitely want more of these.

I wonder if those were re-branded English Wiklies?
I was wondering the same thing! In fact while I was using it was thinking of Turtle's thread. "ohhhh he would love these! I wonder if I can get 100 out of this"

They are fantastic blades. I received a few with a British Gillette I bought on the bay. Now I wish I could buy a few more as I really enjoy they shave I get with them. To my face, they feel and shave just like vintage Wilkinson Super Sword blades.

yeah I searched the bay for them and no dice. I suspect they will be hard to find. :mad3:

There was the well respected Perma-Sharp factory in East Kilbride Scotland. I'm not sure when they ceased production, probably after the Gillette takeover in the 1990s

Interesting. So, if that's really all that has been made in the UK, it seems quite likely these vintage Boot's blades are the English Wilkies--wouldn't you say?

so you think they made the Boots I have first, then rebranded to Wilkinson?

3 shaves are down and there has been no change in the blade.

If I get up to 10 I'll make a thread :thumbup1:

I believe Boot's is a drug store/pharmacy/chemist chain in England. This would have been their house brand blade. I'm guessing they are re-branded English Wilkies short of any other options. Wilkinson manufactures blades. I doubt Boots does.

ahhh ok that makes more sense. Wasn't aware Boot's was also a retail store.

Shave #4 tonight. Felt like every other shave...AMAZING. And gave me a BBS!

This blade is teaching me the meaning of "smooth blade". 3 pass shave - WTG, WTG, ATG. then some touch up here and there. It's the touch up part that is making me understand smoothness in a blade because I can blade buff with just a wet face and cause no irritation or weepers. For instance tonight, I wet my face and fingers and felt around for patches of stubble and without lather I went over the areas I found and ZAP! stubble gone and no weepers or irritation resulted.

smoooooooth blade! BBS!!

Here is the news:

These blades are vintage and probably 1980s from Boots chemists stores in UK.
Boots currently sells Israeli Personnas but prior to that sold rebranded English Wilkinson Swords.

From the "Made In England" circle on the back of the blade box they can be positively identified as manufactured by Wilkinson Sword in England.

They truly are astonishing blades- I bought all I could from the ebay supplier but he only had 40 blades and I haven't seen any more since.

Vintage Minx Stainless blades come up on ebay UK every now and again, and they shave in a very similar fashion although they don't have the "Made In England" circle on the back of the box.
The other English vintage stainless blade I often see is Jewel. Unlike the Minx, they were made in Sheffield so (although I saw a bad review) they may be equally excellent.

Anyway, enjoy these Boots Super Stainless- they are truly most astonishing
