What's new

Are there any flashaholic in here?

Hello my friends, long time no type. I am in the market for a value, bang for the buck EDC flashlight. I have a 7 year old Inova X5 and a 2AA Minimag with a 3LED drop in module. Those lights are not bright enough for me at times and I am looking for something better, higher end quality but on a budget. I am looking for something in the $20-ish price range with a flood type beam.

I've bought a few 9 led flashlights from Lee Valley for $5 that are brighter than $50 buck flashlights I bought a few years ago. 3 AAA cells and between three and four inches long.

I carry a Streamlight PolyTac. It has a xenon bulb and casts a pretty strong light. I think it was a bit above your $20 target, but not by much.

The one I keep in the glovebox is a little larger, but not so much it couldn't be carried. That one is a Pelican StealthLite. Again, I have a xenon, but this one is also available with an LED. The xenon version is rated at 25 lumens; the LED is rated at 84 lumens. Both are powered by four AA batteries. I'm considering replacing mine with another Pelican with the LED model.

you can't beat the price or selection from dealextreme.com I have purchased many lights and rechargeables from them...free shipping ! try the romisen g2 it's a powerhouse

I've got the SF lx2 - tiny little light with amazing power and ridiculous throw. It has no business being as small and powerful as it is.

This one however blows his $20 budget out of the water. What is the form factor you are looking for? A pocket size with AAA/AA batteries? Or something larger running 123A's?

I see a mixed bag of people either liking or dislinking DealExtreme. It seems some say it is a good place with a good price and others say your are gambling on weither you get a god light from them or not as the shipments come from overseas. I am looking for a flashlight no larger than a 2AA Minimag. I am ok with CR123, AA, or even AAA batteries. I prefer simple and basic, a light that "simply works" without 12 modes and such. I think but am not sure that I would prefer a clicky to a twisty. I like the idea of the Romisen RC-N3 in a way because you have one light that will let you choose between a CR123 OR 2AA. I am not looking to collect or have 20 flashlights, etc I just want a quality EDC light that is there when and where I may need it.

I'm a bit of an impulse buyer when it comes to flashlights, I have tons of different types, all of which are very high end. If you're interested I'd be willing to trade you one. I'm in the market for a nice injector razor, or even a nice G-bar. I've never tried SE but I'd like to. Perhaps we can help each other out? PM me if you are interested.

shown in the pic is 4 flashlights I can offer you.
1. Energizer Gen 2 hardcase, this one has 5 LEDs (white, red, blue, green, and IR) all have 3 levels of brightness and it has a swivel head. 2 AA Batteries.
2. Surefire C2 centurion, Xenon bulb, I think it is 85 lumens, runs on 2 123A batteries.
3. Surefire 6P, by far the most common SF light, same bulb/output/batteries as the C2.
4. Surefire U2 Ultra , this one is $$$! Still runs on 2x 123A's but has a variable output from 1-100 lumens, and it is LED so it has pretty high runtimes.

I'm open to just about any trade (even a sweet str8!), I have doubles of all of these. I'm not looking for the world for them (better be good stuff for the U2!)

If you are interested shoot me a PM! Can be other members besides the OP if interested.

My EDC is a 4Sevens Quark Ti 123..

I didn't get a limited edition, unfortunately.. I had to make it by buying up the spare parts they sell on their site www.4sevens.com

Prior to this, I carried around the Nitecore Extreme.
