Aqua Velva

I am in Spain at the moment and I have seen some Aqua Velva in the local supermarket I think I am gonna grab a bottle tonight. It is in a slightly different bottle to the American stuff I was just wondering if anyone has tried it and if it is the same stuff in a different bottle?

If nothing else, it looks like it is a glass bottle, the current product comes in horrific plastic. So if you don't have a glass bottle of Aqua Velva, I would buy it for that reason alone.

In addition to being glass, this is actually an older design of the glass bottle, which looks far nicer than the last design that we saw on the US market (which I found to be a leaky mess to deal with on a daily basis).

As far as I know the European Williams Aqua Velva is not the same as the US version.

Yeah it's a monstrous 200ml glass bottle I have never used aqua velva before so I can't compare but at 4 euro its worth it for the bottle alone. I suppose I'm going to be forced to order some of the us velva now for scientific purposes. It's a tough job but somebodys got to do it.

Combe Incorporated began shipping Aqua Velva exclusively in plastic "Shatterproof" bottles on February 1, 2010. Previously it had been packaged in traditional glass bottles. It was stated that the change was made at customer request, and that the new plastic packaging contains the same product, with no changes in formulation.[SUP][1] [/SUP]

I sent them an email and requested that they keep the glass bottle. Guess I got out voted.

The statement is not false. We are their secondary customer, distributors such as Wal-Mart, Target, Kroger, and any other large retailer are their primary customers. It was widely speculated that the change to plastic was pushed for by WalMart, who thought the amount of breakage was excessive.

The odd thing, is that Walmart stocks other glass bottled aftershaves such as Adidas Dynamic Pulse, Stetson Cooling Moisture, Brut Attitude, and Gillette Cool Wave.

Perhaps these other items have a higher margin and they can absorb the breakage better than on the tiny profit product.

This, and I think that AV probably sells much faster, and therefore has to be stocked more frequently?

I wonder if the pre-2004 formulation of Williams soap is sold in Europe. Combe makes both Aqua Velva and Williams.
