Apple Airport Express

My wireless router bit the dust last night, so I bought a new Apple Airport Express today. It was the easiest setup of any wifi unit that I have ever had. Anyone else have one of these? What have your experiences been like?

I do not have the Express, but I purchased the Apple Airport Extreme about four to five years ago because my Linksys and Netgear routers kept failing. I have never had a problem with mine.

I debated about getting the Extreme, but decided that my household usage didn't warrant the upgrade.

I suspect that you do, in fact, like Apple.....

I've been using an Airport Express to extend the wifi network of my Time Capsule for a few years with no issues. I also have an optical cable connected from the Express to my stereo system that I use to stream from my iTunes library, iPod touch, and iPad. It is very easy to use.

My wifi routers always crap out after 2 years or so. Sounds like the Apple ones last longer?

You really can't go wrong with the Airport Express. You can also use one as a cheap way to extend you network as well. I keep one in my bag for travel.

Same here. I have have had three 2wires from AT&T in three years, then got the netgear. Guess we will see how long it lasts.

I have an Airport Extreme set up for our wireless access in our Graphics department. Works like a charm. Its probably 5 or 6 years old at this point. I've never had to reset it, unlike the *** Belkin router at my house. I also have a 1TB drive attached to it to perform Time Machine backups.

We've had an Airport Express (I think its the Express, maybe the Extreme? durned if I know...) for like 5 years or so, no problemo.

We just picked up an iTV the other week, and that is a great tool if you have other Apple products. I can direct beam pics from my vintage 3GS iPhone to the TV easy as pie. Watch/listen to any of the content on your computers, iPads, iPhones, iCloud, iDontknows...whatever. Also access Youtube, netflix, Hulu, etc, etc.

I have the Airport Express. This is my second one. My first I had since 2008 or so and it went about a year ago. The new one is still good. Its very easy to set up.

Hmmm. So your first lasted around 2 years or so too? Might just be the luck of the draw...

It certainly was easy to set up, but I sure hope s lasts much longer than that.

Other than more Ethernet ports and size, what is the difference?
I posted the link last night, but now I have a little more time to post

extreme
-can support printers and hard drives (can create networked printers and a sort of NAS storage)
-longer range
-has 4 faster ethernet ports

express
-only supports printers via usb
-has 2 slightly slower ethernet ports

So now I'm thinking about getting an Apple TV.

My home is gradually being taken over by Apple. We've got iPods, iPhone, Mac. The thing I like best about all this stuff is that it just works. There might be other stuff of equal quality/value and probably even a few things better, but getting everything to play together nicely isn't always so seamless and headache free as with the Apple stuff.
