Anyone use a two blade method of shaving?

Does anyone use two razors and blades for shaving: 1) a smooth blade for WTG and XTG, and 2) a sharp blade for XTG and ATG. I am finding a smooth blade (Personna Labs, Astra, Voskhod, etc) in an EJ89 and a sharp blade (feather, silver blue, yellow sharp edge, etc) in an adjustable works well. And the two types of blades have different life spans with smooth having long lives and sharps short ones. Anyone else doing this and if so, what razors and blades have you found effective?

I am thinking of trying a two razor shave routine, with an aggressive sharp blade for my face, and a very mild razor for the neck. There is a major difference in shave quality results on my neck area.

It's is pretty time consuming to get the best results with a sharp blade in an aggressive razor on my neck. If I get burn or weepers at all, it's on my neck only.

Not two blades, but I've used two razors in the same shave. With several days of growth, the Merkur 39c slant gets the nod for the WTG pass for beard reduction. The 39c is so much easier on my face with several days growth. Then I use the R41 for the XTG and ATG passes for a nice BBS shave. Otherwise the R41, for me with several days growth, tears my beard.

Both razors are loaded with Gillette blacks.

I don't really aim to use two razors when shaving but occasionally when I have gotten irritation from one razor I will generally fall back to another to get the job done. A Fat Handle tech is usually my fall back since it produces such a mild shave that it generally never causes irritation for me.

On the rare occasion I use my Ikon OSS I use the open comb for a WTG pass then the closed comb for an ATG pass. It is like two razors in one. Convenient and usually BBS or very close.

I just use an adjustable razor (Mergress, Fatboy, Slim, or Futur) and change settings during the shave. More aggressive settings above the jaw, mild setting on the neck.

For no apparent reason, it seems some days my Progress won't finish the shave, but the Slant will....on other days, vice versa....and alternating Astras and Med Preps

I used always use 2 razors in my shave routine, the Red Tip for the WTG & XTG, and a Wilkinson sword classic for the ATG.

For my head shave I could use a sharper blade than my face & would probably get BBS with fewer passes, but I couldn't be bothered with the change & just keep the same razor & blade for both. My face is the most important part so that dictates what I use for the day - razor, lather, brush etc. My head just has to fall in line!

Actually, I've settled into a two razor routine that I am just loving!

I do my normal three pass shave with whatever DE is in the rotation, and then I touch up with my non folding CJB under my nose and around my mouth. The CJB is able to get much closer in some of the tight spots but I don't like using it for a full shave.

I'm quit pleased with this pairing!
