It supposed to be a sweet rum similar to Captain Morgan's but I hear its very smooth. Anyone have an opinion on it?

It puts the good Captain to shame, IMHO. I was introduced to it a few years ago and it is always in my cabinet now.
How does krakken compare?

To be had strait i prefer Capt 's private stock over Sailors, as a mix......... use ice.
Love it. There's always a bottle in my cabinet. I used to drink Capt Morgan Private Stick but it is pricey. The sailor jerry isn't as good but a very old compromise I'd say.
I agree with private stock being pricey. It is definitely a special occasion bottle, and you are definitely right on a cheaper compromise, bang for your Buck is there!
At the end of the night it is always Jailor Serry's. Good stuff indeed, but I prefer Myers Jamaican.
Two thumbs up!! I find it very smooth, and prefer it over other spiced rums as it doesn't seem as sweet! 
I prefer Sailor Jerry, IMO it taste better. It is also 46% ABV, while Capt Morgan is 35% ABV.
Sailor Jerry is my daily, I like dark rums but don't like spiced/sweet. It is good served neat or mixed over ice. My favorite dark rum (of this price level) is Mount Gay, but Sailor Jerry is easier to find.
Worth buying a bottle, imo. Its not 10Cane or Pyrat, but it doesn't pretend to be in that class either. For a daily rum ration, its quite good! I always have a bottle in the galley of the boat too.

I used to drink this, but not anymore. This stuff was black-out juice in college. I did enjoy the flavor better than Captain Morgain, FWIW.

I never drink rum straight up, only mixed, and as far as spiced rums go Jerry's is my Go-To. I also like having a silver rum lying around for Cuba Libres.
Sailor Jerry's is a great rum, very heavy on the vanilla. Mix it with some OJ and some perrier and it tastes just like a creamsicle.
Sailor Jerry's is great. I agree with all the positive comments made so far. SJ with Coke, or Diet Pepsi if you prefer, and a splash of grenadine garnished with a lime wheel...fantastic. I've also mixed it with diet Dr. Pepper for a mighty tasty drink.

Private stock is good but for the money, Sailor Jerry it is!
Krakken is a very dark spiced rum. Very dark. I like it a lot, but I don't think I would mix it as I would the Captain or SJ.
