What's new

Anyone like vinyl and hi-fi turntables?

Just thought I'd share a picture of my office turntable setup for fellow vinyl lovers!

Equipment:
Denon DP-300f (turntable)
Yamaha CR-620 (receiver)
TCC TC-750LC (phono preamp)
Audio Pro Avanti a.10 (speakers - old Avanti style)

Pretty sure that's a Yamaha early CR series receiver -- I have one.

For vinyl I currently have a Technics 1200 in use and an AR XB waiting to be fixed.

Glad to know I can still see.

Funny, I have a TCC preamp too, which is handy for bench work. How come you don't use the receiver's preamp?

I don't have photos of my setups, but I have two active turntables. Bedroom setup is:
NAD C160 pre / C270 amp
NHT Super One speakers
Harman/Kardon T55C (pictured solo in my old apt.) + Ortofon OM20
CAL Icon Mk II CD Player

The TV/Livingroom setup is
Rotel RTC965 pre / RB956 amp
PSB Image 4T speakers
JVC QL-Y66F table + Ortofon OM10

I have a Technics SL1600 which I love, with a Shure cartridge. I use the phono input on my Pioneer stereo amp, and I I have Energy C3 speakers and a homemade subwoofer. I was reading on a hifi forum about a major hifi equipment company that is now discontinuing all its CD players, declaring the format dead. It still offers turntables and media server things.

I've been spending a lot of time with my Oracle Delphi II 'table and Benz cartridge lately, powered by tubes, listening to LPs I've owned since the early '70's. Recently got a Spin Clean record washer, a new, cheap ($60) device, and it makes a very noticable difference. No medium sounds better than vinyl, provided that the disc is in good shape and the hardware is good quality.

This Pro-ject Debut turntable was my house warming present to myself when I moved into this apartment. Paid $30 extra for the splash of red. Still using the cheap Ortofon cartridge that came with it. The 1980 Time-Life Beatles box came later. My Creek integrated amp is supposed to have a good preamp.

I always preferred Shure to Ortofon because of the heavier sound of Shure, but the delicate sound of the Creek works nicely with the Ortofon.

Sorry, no pix, but I do love vinyl on my modest little system:

Rega P3 TT, with a wood-body Grado Platinum cartridge (my beloved Denon 103D died recently at the hands of a visitor -- either my young daughter or my visiting mom ...)
Plinius Jarrah phono amp
Norh SE-9 amp -- uses a pair of vintage EL34s, a couple of Amperex Bugle Boy DJ8s and an old Mullard GZ34, to produce a whopping 9 wpc
Omega Super 3 single-driver speakers
a Yamaha sub for at least a bit of bass

I have a small room, so this set-up works out great (even on things like AC/DC's Thunderstruck, on a UK-pressed 12-inch 45).

Although I am more into home theater, it's really nice to see some people still have a good ear instead of opting for the most convenient setup.

Nice set up!

The best way to listen to jazz is on a well sorted out turntable and stereo system to back it up.

I'm looking for a new table, so I'll subscribe to this thread.

But the most important question is: what is the Bb trumpet in the OP's picture?!
