What's new

Anyone know what this is? (pics)

Saw this over the weekend. What is it?

Not to state the obvious it's a Rolls Razor. Not much more than a collectable for most people. Its average price is about $25-30 in shops etc. If your collecting its nice to have, but as for use, stick with Gillette DE's.

You can use it... Several members use them... I have one but have yet to use mine, but I could use it and that's the point.

Ok, it was $20... but if I cant use it, then I dont care about it...

You could certainly use it, but it's just about the most aggressive razor out there, short of a straight, and in fact has a reputation as being a "straight razor on a stick". :tongue_sm

I have three. They give me the best, long lasting shave i can get.

Take a while to get them honed up but once there, they are excellent. I don't find them that aggressive and they are the only razors that have NEVER cut me.

Several threads here on them, though Ive not read that much, so I don't know much about them. That looks nearly (if not) NIB though, so I'd snap it up if I were you. Again, I don't really know the value, but $20 seems a bargain considering (I assume) the complete package near new.

I'm not sure I would get that one. There should be a top plate with it (for stropping). It looks like the bottom plate (for honing) is there and otherwise looks in good condition.

Unless the top plate was just left out of the photograph, it's incomplete.

The folks who have used them and reported on them have given them good reviews. They look mean and aggressive, but apparently they do quite a good job. If they didn't, the Rolls company wouldn't have sold so many of them. They were in business for a number of years. While it probably takes a little more technique than a DE razor, it's not the killing machine that it looks to be.

Maybe, one day, I'll try out one of mine. But then I haven't worked up the guts to try a Feather blade, either. :001_rolle
