I've been looking for the same thing myself. Just not looking very hard.
I personally do not know what the texture of a strop feels like, so it's hard for me to know what to look for. I've seen leather strips, but I don't know the exact width and thickness I need, and again the texture.

My Valet strop is made of leather. One side is smooth, while the other side has some texture to it, I'm guessing that the second pic in your link is of the back side with the texture.
As far as thickness, I don't have anything to measure it with, but it is pretty much exactly the thickness of a U.S. penny. I'm sure if I searched a little I could find some where that lists the thickness of a penny.
EDIT: According to the first page I looked at, a penny is 1.55mm thick.

I've got a Valet strop that came in a lot of other stuff I bought a while ago. Don't have a Valet so no real point in keeping it. Seems to be in decent condition as it has no nicks and has the loop for attaching it to whatever. Anyone who wants it PM me and its yours gratis.

I believe, from the look of my strop, it is may be made of pig skin. the strops width is 39 mm wide and 330 mm length without the hanging cord. The hanging cord is approximately 85 mm. Thickness is about 1.5 mm or slightly thicker. I would think one could be constructed. Sorry I tried to upload pictures but was not able.
