Anyone find the Gillette Tech irritating?

It's the third time I've used my Tech (3 different blades) and I find it irritating. Maybe it has something to do with the way the blade sits in the razor, but ow, if I don't get the angle right, it bites. When it doesn't I can still feel the blade. Is it just me?

i love my tech, and find it mild and forgiving.

just to double check (because ive heard it happening to others befoe) the pice with the safety bar - is it on the right way?

The only tech I find to be great is the 60's aluminum tech, or the brit tech aluminum handle. The older ones do give me irritation, Fat handled types are the ones that give me irritation.

I do not have that problem. Usually a tech isn't aggressive enough so I would need to do 5-6 pass to get a BBS shave (maybe more)... It's a great razor to travel with!

What do you normally use so you do not get irritation?

Both my fat handled and ball end tech give great shaves. They are actually one of my favorite razors to shave with.

My Slim and my Superspeed with the same blade gives me a more comfortable shave and no I didn't put it together upside down. It's probably me trying to compensate for the lack of gap by using the Tech at a shallower angle.
The Tech is also the only razor I've nicked my self with (it's a 1966 Argentinian made Tech, ball end)

I'm irritated because the wife doesn't understand why I should have about a dozen techs.

As shavers, the ones that give me trouble are my Flying Eagle tech clone, and the itty bitty handled travel techs.

My first DE was a 1920's tech. I loved it until a baggage mishap by an airline resulted in it being broken.

I haven't found a Tech to be irritating, but some are just too mild so that I can't get a close enough shave no matter how many passes.

That's exactly my problem...except I irritate my skin trying so many passes in so many directions trying to get BBS or even a DFS.

Well, I still have too much respect (ie. fear ) for these razors to try too much pressure, or too many passes.

I have never shaved with my ball end Techs but my fat-handles ones give excellent, irritation free shaves. The fat-handled Tech is one of my favorite shavers.

I find the Tech irritating if it doesn't have a very sharp blade in it. I can get away with more dullness in a superspeed than in a Tech.

I was using a one shave old Astra Platinum in it (previous blade was a Swede)

In my experience using a fat-handled Tech, that would be one of the least irritating set-ups.

Probably you're not getting the angle exactly right? Or perhaps you're subconsciouly pushing harder than you do with other razors because the Tech is too mild for you?

I had irritation because I was trying to get my Techs to do more than they were capable of. Once I let them do their thing, it was much better. Not closer, but better.
