Anyone ever use the Brush Plus

Just curious if anyone has ever used this product back in the day, and if it was any good. I seem to remember them, but never used it.

I do remember that product. I purchased one and used all of it. At the time, I thought it was very convenient. The plus (soap) part of the combination was OK, but the brush was not too good. It had no backbone – was very soft, and splayed all over the place.

Interestingly enough, I also worked for Osco Drug about 20 years ago.

Talk about jogging my memory, Phil! Yes, I did use it and it was my first brush experience. I recall some clogging issues that may or may not have contributed to its demise....

Wow, thanks for reminding me of my age. :wink2:

I had one back in the day, and I held on to it until shortly before I discovered this place. Once the soap ran out and became unavailable, I used it on occasion as a shaving brush with a mug of Old Spice soap I'd picked up. Eventually, I gave it up, went with canned gel and forgot all about it.

I finally got fed up when the Fusion's appetite for spendy cartridges got to be too much for me to take, and thought, "Hey, I think there is an old razor here".

When I dug out my dad's old Slim, there it was, along with the mug and a partial puck of OS soap. I used it, along with a blade I found with the razor.

The experience was less than gratifying, and I stopped at the drugstore and got a "proper" brush (VDH) and since it came with new soap, I tossed the Brush Plus and the old puck in the trash, thinking I'd not want that crappy old stuff when this shiny new stuff was available.

Shortly after, I searched for tips online, and I found this place.

Now that the confession is over, I recall dimly that it worked pretty well with the cream provided, but as posted above, it was a very soft synthetic.

No, but is that for sale?! Looks like it would be really cool!!!

NICE!!!

That one is on eBay right now, and they do come up from time to time.

That is too funny!

Well, it reminds me of mine too, if that is any consolation.

I worked for Osco as well...That's how I know the wholesale price of that Brush was $5.26. Gillette products did not make much money for their retailers compared to other brands (and store brands)....

I use a brush plus brush right now to shave....Have bought a couple on ebay and had one back in the day.....I like the size and the very soft synthetic bristles.....

What the world needs now is the new "BadgerBrushPlus". It would be made out of ebony a Silvertip knot, the cartridge would dispense a small amount of premier shaving cream, and the knot would spin at 2,000 RPM, with an LED lightshow that kept time with the built-in MP3 player and micro stereo speakers.

I remember as a child, my dad using the Brush Plus system with an Atra razor. I don't know how long he used it for, but he eventually moved onto a Sensor.

Now he uses the cheapest canned goo he can find, and whatever disposable is on sale. :scared:

Yep. Bought it when it first came out. The refill was expensive (Thanks Gillette!) so I used it with regular canned goo. Because of the Brush Plus, I have always used a brush, but until a year or so ago I only used canned goo.
