What's new

Anyone else use their slim dialed to 7 or higher?

I usually go a day between shaves, so I have some decent growth to chop when I shave. For me, it's a Slim on 9 every shave. It works very well. I was hesitant at first because I figured more blade meant more nicks and burn. Not at all. I can get DFS in two passes with a bit of touch up. No nicks, no burn...unless I use a blade that doesn't agree with me. It takes me four passes plus touch up with a Tech to get an equivalent shave. Those extra passes really irritate. I could probably get a very fine shave with a Tech if I shaved every day with it, but once I skip a day I need something a little more aggressive.

I find that while 5 is cruise control for BBS, I prefer my Fatboy at 9.
At 5, I could be half asleep, one eye closed, and use bar soap for lather.
At 9, I have to pay attention and use a decent lather., and the BBS is much better, leaves my face feeling new.

My adjustable stays at 7. I routinely shave my brain pan with it in this configuration. Anything less and it feels like I'm shaving with a plastic knife.

My Slim doesn't get beyond 3. If I go further up there's a much higher probability for bumps and red spots on my neck and jawline.

between 7 and 5 is my sweet spot, varies between the blades I use. Anything lower is a waste, I may as well stick with a superspeed or something if I'm using a lower setting than 7-5 :D

I don't use an adjustable for its ability to go higher than a fixed head razor, but for its ability to go lower: I dial down to 1 for ATG on my upper lip. This way I never get weepers there, which still happened too often with even a mild fixed head razor.
