Anyone else having problems with Shaving Factory?

I placed an order via Amazon with shaving factory on August 7th, they said it shipped on August 25th and I still have not received my blades and shaving cream.:cryin:

I have tried multiple times to contact them through Amazon and have been leaving messages on their toll free phone number.:thumbdown

I have left my cell number fr them to call me back (local NJ number) and still no response via phone or Amazon.

Their website has the same phone number as provided by Amazon, but I don't see an email address.

I know they give a 25% discuount to B&B members and was wondering if they are a member here or someone has any additional contact info for them.

I'll be back in Jersey soon, but I don't know if their physical address is even a real building where I can knock on the door and speak to someone.

Thanks, Joe.

I wonder how Amazon handles disputes? Before I was on B&B I use to solely use Amazon for my wetshaving supplies and never had a problem. I hate hearing about folks here having ordering problems from anywhere.:mad3:

In my experience, Shaving Factory is notoriously slow with shipping.

My first shipment from them took 2-3 weeks to arrive. New Jersey to Michigan.

Second order I believe took just over a week.

I actually bought an assortment of their cheap tube creams from their web site a couple of months ago. Although I had read lukewarm (at best) reviews from B&B members who had used the Derby creams they received free on a blade buy, with the free shipping AND the 25% discount, it was so cheap I couldn't pass it up. I figured I'd PIF them or toss a tube in with a B/S/T trade or something if I didn't like them.

Although their website said I could make the purchase without "registering an account with them", once I got to the checkout, it wouldn't let me proceed without registering. Once I did order, I now could check the progress of my order on my "account". Every time I checked it, it only said Processing. They had the picture on their website for the Live Chat girl, but she was never online in the multiple times I checked the status of my order.

After leaving email without getting a reply, I called that mysterious toll-free phone number they had in New Jersey. I got a voice mail that did not mention Derby at all, but it was my only shot so I took the high road and politely left a message inquiring how often they checked their email. I referenced my name and the order. I never got a reply or a return phone call.

I looked on Amazon and saw that there was still a Shaving Factory store that was apparently active, so I thought maybe there was a supply problem, or Turkey was on a vacation shutdown or something. I wasn't sure at this point if my order was actually coming from Turkey AFTER I ordered it or was it in a warehouse in New Jersey. After a couple of weeks with no communications, and the ever present In Process tag in my online account status, I called the phone number again, referenced my order, and left a non-profane but quite terse "I am not pleased!"

I will say at what seemed like three week, I got a soft shipping envelope delivered with all four of the cream tubes. There was no correspondence of any kind enclosed. I will say that the price I was finally charged was INDEED the initial purchase price, so they honored the discount. The shipping was also free. However, I don't think they'll ever get my business again (and Derbys are my main blade). I get uncomfortable when there is no communication. In the days of online marketing, I would think vendors would do everything possible to put their customers (and potential repeat customers) at ease. I know that people go out of town, on vacation, etc., but to this day the "Shaving Factory" has not offered a solitary word to me.

I'm sorry to go into this much depth on a transaction that really had no fireworks to speak of, and there was no failure for me to get my purchased products, but I think B&B members have a right to know what my experience was, and, even more, that the proprietor of the Shaving Factory may see it and step up their game a bit.

Crixus -

Can you give me their email address?
I don't even have that!
I only have the through Amazon method and the phone number...

Communication is a big deal for me.
I can live with delays, but I'd like to know status.

I don't want my order cancelled because they had good prices when I purchased (but I see they went up on Amazon) and are still selling the blades and cream, so I assume they aren't out of product.

I really don't want to meet at a warehouse, but the worse case is that I have to drive over and knock on their door with a copy of my order when I get back to Jersey.

I was disappointed that it took 7 working days for my starter kit (Ming Shui razor, Derby blades, Jaguar 236 brush, Arko) to arrive after ordering on Amazon on New Year's Eve. It sounds like I fell on the better side of their various ship times.

2-3 weeks? Thats obnoxious. I wouldnt have made a second order.

The first order was some free stuff I won in a B and B contest.

The second shipment was for 250 of the newest Derby Orange blades.

I knew what to expect on the second order, and since I was in no rush for the blades I figured no harm. :tongue_sm

I just found that thread trough google.

I've made an order for blades on shaving facotry on december 8th and i'm still waiting for my package. I've emailed the compagny twice already and they told me that the package is on it's way. I don't think so. More than 6 weeks already and i'm not getting it. Plus, Paypal won't help me because I did not open a dispute within 45 days of transaction.

Anyone have any idea what I could do?

Well one thing you did right was join B&B! Welcome.

Did you pay by credit card through Paypal by chance? if so you will still be protected.

Wow thanks for the quick reply!

No :( My paypal account is directly into my bank account. Is there anything I can do with my bank?

I'm so deceived by paypal. I can't believe that they won't do anything.

You used your Debit card bank account right?. It's still a credit card so you're still covered through Paypal.

Hi Clayton.

Can you tell me how I process to make a recovery trough paypal? Do I need to dispute? Because I can't since it's been more than 45 days. Otherwise I don't know how?

Thank you very much for your help.

I just looked on Paypal and it look's like you can't dispute it because it's been over 45 day's. Keep trying to communicate with the vendor. Hopefully they will come through for you and get your order to you. I wish you the best of luck with this.

I finally got them to refund my money for my purchase through Amazon. I received email from them saying they were going to also send me free product to help win me back to become a satisfied customer. Never got anything from them.

When I emailed my complaint, I mentioned that I am a member of B&B and had seen that they also give a discount to B&B members (someone must have let them know about us) and that I was also a member of SMF, TSN, and SRP and would be willing to share my experience working with them. I was hoping it would make them realize I was going to let as many people as possible know they were bad news and to stay away.

By refunding me via Amazon, it took away my ability to review them and say anything negative there to affect their rating.

I also gave them the option of letting this Jersey boy with an Italian last name come to see them in Jersey, only a few towns away form where I and Tony Soprano hail, but I had didn't want it to sound like a threat or anything. I just wanted my stuff (1000 Orange-packaged Derby DE blades and a dozen tubes of Lavendar Derby shaving cream).

Oh well. At least I got my money back. I was thinking of putting together some gift sets for Christmas and luckily I gave up by November when my August order still hadn't arrive.

Good luck contacting them and making them follow through.
The lack of communication was by the most frustrating.

Joe.

As I've said above, I thought taking 6 business days for a Priority Mail shipment to arrive was bad, but nothing compared to some of your guys' stories. I think the moral of ANY Shaving Factory purchase is to do it through Amazon so, in the worst case, you have Amazon to act as an intermediary and issue your refund if TSF will not communicate properly.

Luckily I can't see myself wanting to buy anything from them again any time soon... Their Ming Shi razor is a super-mild dud. Their brushes (Jaguar, some TSF branded) have horrible boar funk but do soften up... one is enough for me. Derby blades don't agree with my face and are my current testing benchmark of a bad blade (YMMV). The only thing I might consider ordering from them would be some more Arko since I made the mistake of trying to microwave mine, but there are plenty of other more reliable sources out there and I don't need 15 sticks... obviously the free Derby blades aren't going to entice me.

I went to Shaving Factory's website and it's a real joke. Not the kind of website into which I would be particularly in a rush to input my credit card number.
