Anybody love the Bakelite Merkur?

I've been looking at the festively colored little fellas and am starting to think I need one. I use a Gillette Old as my daily whisker remover, how will this compare?

Don't know about the Old, but you do need to get a Bakelite, pronto!
Very light, but not cheap-feeling. I've always gotten a good shave.

Merkur Bakelite - Is it anybody's favourite?

Just try contacting Merkur / Dovo and ask for customer support. Matching their products.
My advice, make sure you understand the return policy of the store you are buying from. Or, just use it as it is and swallow your pride.
I couldn't, and paid the postage to return the junk.

ia_james, I own a Merkur 45 Bakelite and it's a great razor. If you read many of the other postings on this forum about this razor, you will read about how it provides one of the best shaves ever. I find it nearly impossible to cut myself using it, and the shave is as close as any I get with my metal razors. In my opinion it's a great razor for those learning about double edge shaving while perfecting their technique and determining what type of razor best suits their beard type. Not only is it inexpensive ($18), it's the perfect lightweight travel razor at only 14 grams! Good luck.
