Thank you, I was able to find one other razor online with the same etched image of george Washington. But on that razor as well as the one on the photo you have linked they both say Fredrick Reynolds on the tang. This razor only says cast steel sheffield. Is there a reason why that is? Was not made by Simmons Hardware co.
Simmons was a US company.
That razor was made in the UK, probably around 1840s..maybe a bit before.
It is possible Simmons and/or other retailers were reselling razors from that maker. I have seen a lot of different G.Washington etched razors over the years, many Sheffield cutlers used similar artwork.
No idea who the actual maker was,, since they didn't stamp their name on the tang, unless it is on the other side.
There was a lot of that sort of production going on back then, times were different. I've had a dozen or two un-named Sheffields.
