Anybody Get Their Beer in a Growler?

Funny you should ask since I just had some tonight. What do you mean by trade in? Every time you go you just get a new one?

Not a drinker, just curious, whats a growler?

It is a glass jug used to purchase beer in. Like a pitcher you can take home for later.

I dont get to micro brewerys often, but there is one about 20 min away that has a heavenly coffee stout. When I stop in I always pick one up.

Here you go.

Yep, just picked one up the other day at the schlafly brewery not too far from here. It's a bit more expensive than buying a regular six pack ($11 or so versus $7-8 for the six pack) for a bit less beer, but it is very fresh (usually less than a week from the date it was brewed) and you can get all the small batch brews they only serve on tap there and don't bottle. Mmm, beer.

Every now and then my youngest daughter brings one home from the micro/resturant where she works while attending college.

I live less than a mile from the Blue Point brewery, so I get most of my beer from a growler. Only problem is that once you break the seal the beer must be consumed, usually not a problem for me

I quite often do this. The only problem is my brother has figured out they also work to take beer from my house off my homebrew taps. :sneaky2:

+1

I grew up in San Diego and still go down there regularly, so I can stop by AleSmith, Port, or Stone on the way back to LA to fill up a growler... or three. Good thing I don't live there any more....

We have a local brewery in Torrance, CA called Red Car that makes a killer IPA. It's around 9-10% abv. I pick up a growler for special occasions.
