Any shave sticks at major US retail chains?

Hello all,

I'd like to give any of the popular shave sticks ago, but I can't find any locally (northern Indiana). Has anyone had success finding them at any of the major US retail chains? Target, CVS, Wal-Mart, etc.

I know the online options are plentiful and I'll definitely go that route if I continue striking out. As always, thanks in advance for taking the time to reply.

I have never seen a shave stick in any major US retail chain, and never even knew they existed until I joined B&B.

Online, or a specialty shop are about your only options in the US.

In the US, you have exactly 4 choices for shave soap at national chains (ignoring random local boutique places) : Vdh/Williams at the drug store, Cade at L'Occitane, AoS, and Sierra/Nomad at Crabtree & Evelyn.

We are a vast empty wasteland.

Indeed we are. I love my Cade, but I really wish it came in stick form. Maybe we should suggest it to L'Occitane; I'd certainly sign up to buy Cade sticks on a regular basis and I'm sure they could convince me to buy a fancy aluminum shave stick holder as well.

EDIT: I know I could mill the soap and press it into a new container, but it's not really the same thing in my book. I'm lazy that way. I guess I'll just have to rely on the Internet for my shave stick fixes.

I've never seen any in the shops in the States. I just buy a half dozen or so sticks of Palmolive shaving sticks whenever I go to England on holiday each summer. I only use them when I travel so I am good for a while. Though now I must locate the Wilkinson Sword shave sticks...

Remember you can always buy american shave sticks online. Mama Bear sells them as does Suzie Bubbles. Other custom soap makers do too.

Yea, no shave sticks in major US retail outlets...you can always get some VDH and melt it into an empty glue stick container and have yourself a homemade shave stick.

I used to worry about living in a shaving wasteland but in reality, with the internet, you don't even have to get off the sofa to get whatever you want from anywhere in the world.

If stores would somehow average their shipping costs and add them equally to each product, it would be perfect. I still can't pay an $8 flat shipping charge for a single bar of soap or tube of cream I would like to try. I think shops are still making money off shipping.

I too would love to buy shave sticks from a brick and mortar shop. I know that Mama Bear has a shop that is open for in-person business once in a while and I have made the pilgrimage to Pasteur's Pharmacy in New York, but there are no national chains.

In fact, if we limit ourselves to sticks one list could probably name all the individual shops in the states that sell any. Any takers? I smell a wiki page.

I've bought a number of shaving products on Amazon. If I want to get free shipping on a $6 shave stick, I can sometimes add $19 of other non-shaving products that I was planning to buy anyway, books, watch batteries, whatever.
