Any recommendations for a leather briefcase?

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a leather briefcase... Looking for something simple but good quality - preferably streamlined rather than fussy.

You will not find a leather product finer that from Colonel Littleton. Fine products from right here in Tennessee. I have purchased from the Colonel for years and am never disappointed.

I've got a saddleback briefcase and I really enjoy it. It is definitely a simple bag, but very good quality. They are expensive, but built very well. If you keep an eye on their website, they occasionally have 'seconds' come up for sale that have some sort of minor defect. If you can find one of these, then they become much more affordable. Also, as a corollary to the bags being well built, they are heavy. This past summer, I would often times be carrying the briefcase over my shoulder for several hours at a time. Even when the bag itself did not have much in it, my shoulders would get a bit sore from carrying the weight. I'm now back in school and carrying it for shorter periods of time, but with more weight. Now I find it much more manageable, even though I'm carrying more in it. Even still, the briefcase is heavy, but not unbearably so.

I love those "rustic" and "western" looking bags, but for work I wear a suit--it's American Tourister and Samsonite all the way.

Do you really see an issue with a saddleback briefcase and a suit? I dont. In fact, I think they look better than the stiff briefcases I see most businessmen with. You would be amazed at the complements you would get too I imagine.

Take a look at the video on the site of the Colonel's several year old briefcase and see how it has aged and then give me your opinion on how it would look with your suit. It is amazing how much better they look with some age on them. (at least to me).

Yeah, maybe, but it's contextual. If I rocked one of those at work I'd be "the eccentric," which isn't a great career move for me (other industries have other criteria, of course).

Yep very true, if you already have the corner office then go with it!.

Did you check out their shaving kit bags?

You really should check out the video of the GP No. 1 Shave Kit bag. He really has it stuffed full of many different things. But only one razor.

I carry Briggs and Riley’s executive expandable brief and it has served me pretty well through all my business meetings and overnight trips. The expandable feature allows me to carry a change of clothes, so I don’t have an extra piece of bag with me when I go for an overnight trip. It has three sections – a computer compartment for your laptop, a file section for your documents and/or clothes, and an organizer to keep all your gadgets. The outer fabric is ballistic nylon and resistant to water, dirt, and abrasions. Check out more features of this business briefcase on the Briggs and Riley website.

I like my Saddleback Thin Briefcase quite a lot. I've had it about a week, but it's ridiculously sturdy and I've been frequently complimented on it. The thin design is a bit more professional looking to my eyes. I'd imagine that picking one up in chestnut or black would convey a very professional appearance. I got mine in Dark Tobacco and it's great.

Man those Saddlebacks are sweet...but $500 for a briefcase?

I paid less for my Gregory pack that can carry a week and a half worth of food and supplies! If I was making the big bucks, I'd have one in a heartbeat though. Too bad I look like my avatar picture.
