We got local guy who just took up game at 86. He is learning & practicing daily.

Think he is unique.🏆
My grandfather took up snooker in his 80's, since my grandmother went down hill, and he had to be close to home and couldn't play golf anymore. He was pretty good. They had a full size snooker table in his retirement village.

I played 8-ball a lot in my youth. I still play a bit and have a small table in the shed.

We have room in one of recreation center where I live. One 5 x 10 Snooker table, One 5 x 10 Carom Table, One 3.5 x 7 Bar Bix Pool Table, Twenty-Five 4.5 x 9 Pool Tables.🥰

I need to get into it again. I was good when I was younger and played a lot, and then lost it all completely. Lately YouTube has been recommending billiards and pool videos again and it's coming back to me mentally. It's fun to watch. But I don't have anywhere to play. I could fit a table in our house technically but there's not really enough room at the moment if I'm being honest with myself.

Pool is a great game, it can be played by young, and old. It makes you think, plan and excite. We have guy who is 97 who still plays. Like most sports, games, professions, and thing we do in life. It is not about tools, it about practice, planning, listing, watching, and learning to be better then so so.

We had a pool table and a ping pong table in our basement as kids growing up and we played often for many years. Although I rarely play either anymore, I feel comfortable with a cue or a paddle. My brother and I had many late nights trying to one up each other.

Used to have numerous pool halls in my local town now we are down to just one and it is always packed. Played a lot when I was younger and always told myself I would get a table when I have a house with room. So far no room in any house, need to get my priorities straight.

I recall living in Southern California, hanging out at this Pool Room after I got off work at 11PM. The amount of money changing hand some nights was more then I made in month. Road Players showed up when Hollywood Park & Santa Anita were running. They made killing playing Pool, most were broke following night as they could not pick ponys. Sort of sad life.

Pro Pool Players are under paid, they all need to get on PGA Tour to chase real money.

My father was a serious pool player (but not for money), and used to stand around and watch Willie Mosconi play in Philly when he was coming up and later in his prime. Mosconi was a master player, and a showtime shooter, but not a hustler. Just a fantastic competition player. I never saw him play, sadly.

So we had a table in the house, and I was well taught.

When I first started playing, I had to stand on a step stool to make the shots, often with a bridge. I eventually got my own custom cue, and would specially fit and dress the tips on it, and would keep my own chalk and powder. Never let anyone touch your cue.

It is all about the english, and planning 3-4 shots ahead. If you can master that, most of the resulting shots are typically easy. A really good pool player doesn't have to make too many "trick" shots. Because good cue ball placement on the preceding shot avoids it.

Pool is a lot like golf that way. Ultimately, you are not playing against others. You are playing against yourself. It's a game about mistakes (aren't they all?).

Eight ball was always nice with guests and for the fast causal game over drinks. But straight pool is where the action is. Running the table .. . and then some. I never played for money. That can get dangerous.

We no longer have a table. My son has my old cue now.

Let me say I am very serious about Pool, I have finally learned a couple of very valuable lessons.

Skill is more imporatant then equipment.

Pool is like most Sport very mental, distractions will =‘s losses.

Simple mistakes will kill your chance of winning.

Practice what you do poor, if you’re lucky. Luck is not skill.

Don’t gamble, people will hussle you.

I swear this is true:

This morning just before 630 am I'm having a dream I'm about to play pool. But I invent a new rule. Get this. For each ball sunk the player gets 1 point. If it's a combo, 2 points. If it's a double combo (the ball hits two places or balls before it's sunk) it's 3 points. The player with the most points wins. As to the rest of the rules I woke up.

Pretty sad I've lived in a house with an 8ft slate pool table for about 20 years and I don't play. It been a junk drawer for the past 10 years. But after watching the Black Widow documentary on Netflix about Jeanette Lee, I finally cleared it off, and maybe I'll actually learn to play one of these days...
