That is a great looking set - I think it is the 1912-14 Ever-Ready.

It's a lather catcher of some sort - I have one the same, but mine has the wrong handle.

I find mine shaves well, but the only problem is it is too big and that makes it very hard to see what I'm doing in the mirror - especially shaving my top lip and around the mouth.

Thanks for the replies and the thread link. I'm hoping to receive it around Saturday. I like carbons in my Damaskeene so I'll probably try one in it first.The Pellas seem a little edgy to me on the first couple of shaves, then they smooth out.
