Antique Show Haul,Really Great Finds

Not much going on yesterday so SWMBO and I decided to hit an antique swap meet and burn some B-day money.
Well here's what forty bucks gets you in the wild if the fates are kind.

First off this trio, D-4 Fat Boy-5.00,B-3 Red Tip-5.00 and the D-4 Executive-10.00
The Executive seems to have seized adjustment fingers and is currently soaking and the Fat Boy is in great shape save for some heavy brassing in the blade tray itself.

The next one is the uber-haul one of the militaria guys had this bad boy sitting out with no price but figured what the hey and asked the price.
I was quoted 20.00 and maybe he should have been concerned when not even halfway through his "World War 2 razors like this are more expensive on Ebay...." sales pitch I was fishing out the double sawbuck.

Actual WW1 issue Khaki Set with a J prefix serial# and usable shaving mirror, the plating is completely intact with only one minor crack near the ball
The khaki on the case is intact but a little stained and appears to be complete except the thumbtacks for the mirror have gone their own way.

While not part of the Uber-haul of yesterday here's a few other recent additions
Late 20's Combination set, looks to be complete save for missing one of the blade banks and obviously the case.
35.00 during a lunch break antique shop raid.

And my Father In Law's Y-3 Super Speed, according to my Mother In Law Dad got this one right before they were married and that he started making good bucks at Kraft so rapidly replaced it with a Norelco.
once the shave foam scum was cleaned away it is very minty.

The bad news is the Executive is doing multiple hot water soaks as the adjustment fingers seem to be seized in the #9 position and since the dealer said these were his dad's razors I'm wondering if the fact he had two D-4 Fat Boy razors with the Executive being practically minty fresh and the regular 195 showing signs of heavy use that maybe the seized up Executive isn't maybe defective.
Future soakings and maybe a mineral oil soak should tell the tale.

Sweet score! I agree with Copierguy: just be patient with the Executive, and keep putting it through its paces until the mechanism loosens up. Tell yourself that the original owner just couldn't bring himself to shave every day with a gold-plated razor... :wink2:

It's possible that those pieces came from a Traveler set, which only came with a single blade case, rather than a Combination set. Of course, there's no real way to know for sure.

Well, yes... unless the pieces were from Gillette's exceedingly rare "Bring your own dang bag for once" set.

It was in a shaving mug that the gal running the shop had for an additional 35.00,took a bit of time to ID the other DE razors she had primarily a Bar Handle NEW in a Brownie case and a couple of ball handle Old Types.
Unfortunately one of the OT's I had to let her know that someone had pulled a fast one on her as it had an Old Type handle,a NEW top cap and a slab of thick brass bar stock where the comb section should be with about an 1/8 before you'd ever get to an edge.

I'm soaking her out pretty good but I neglected to mention that everything adjusts and opens smoothly and freely it's the U shaped tray that the fingers are part of that's seized up solid.

scored one of those us army sets yesterday, i was going to ask on here if it was ww1, a few pics before clean and polish and after.$razor 2 009.jpg$razor 2 010.jpg$razor 2 011.jpg

By golly, I just now realized that I have several of those exceedingly rare "Bring your own dang bag for once" sets.
