What's new

another saddleback thread

so i'm really starting to be impressed by the saddleback bifold wallet. my only issue is my current wallet is far from worn out, and it's hard for me to justify the purchase.

nevertheless, every week or so i go back to the site and take a look. this time, i noticed a quote on the site referring to how hard the leather is:

A little stiff, butt will soften and form

now, is this a typo saying the leather will soften over time, or is it saying my butt will soften and form it?:lol:

A little of both, honestly. I've had one for a while and it was stiff as a board when I got it but now it's much softer and more pliable. My biggest problem with it is that it is a *very* thick wallet even when empty.

I have been watching that one too. Unfortunately the shipping was more than the wallet close to 50$.

I'm pretty sure that I've seen that in several places on the site. I don't think that it's accidental, but in line with their general cheekiness...

That's easy.

1. Empty current wallet.
2. Place under drive tire.
3. As many burnout's as necessary.
4. Replace with saddleback.

They make their wallets with the same leather used for their bags, it's a little thick, but it's also not going anywhere any time soon. I have the card wallet and it's not too thick at all. If you're worried about thickness I'd suggest sticking with the small wallet, it holds as much as you'll realistically need while taking up much less pocket real estate than pretty much any leather billfold (all-ett's excluded, they're ridiculously thin).

I have the small wallet. You have to fold bills into thirds to fit them in. I typically fold them all at once. The leather has softened quite a bit as there are indentations from the credit card numbers and name. The only complaint I have is that the top card slot has a tendency to allow the card to get stuck if I don't pull it out much. I only keep a few dollars, a driver's license, ATM card, credit card, and school ID in it and it works like a charm.

It does a good job keeping the clutter of receipts down. I keep a separate wallet at home for the receipts of big purchase items and gift cards.

Hokay,

I came off the All-Ett Executive ( "The World's thinnest wallet" ) and bought a Large Trifold. Yes it has softened up a lot after use and after manually "softening" the wallet ( bend, twist, bend, twist ).

The biggest issue I have with this one is not the size but the weight !!!

I don't carry in my back pocket ( even the All-Ett ), but in my jacket pocket it tends to weigh that side down.

I'm now using a SB small. I've pruned the number of plastic cards I have and it's great either in your jacket or as a front pocket wallet.

If you however carry a lot of cash then it's a bit hard to get it in and out, but a couple of notes is fine.

Since I'm not a back pocket carrier can't tell you anything about my soft butt !!!

I've been doing a search for a new wallett. Currently my posteriour is toting a Ralph Lauren (made for them by who knows who) that I bought at their outlet for $35. I liked it because the leather seamed reasonably good, but now that I've had it for 3 months it's starting to shape itself to my rear in wierd ways. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and get an Ettinger wallet (if I can't find someone in the UK to get one and send it to me I'll have to get the Psycho Bunny version of it). Has anyone compared the Ettinger wallets to the Saddleback?

Mike
