another +1 for Wikinson Sword but whats that stuff on the blade?

used these for the first time today and wasn't nearly as bad a shave as i thought it was going to be. as you see in the photos there is some discoloration to the blades, kind of looks like rust in some spots, but it wasn't. i tried scraping it off with my fingernail but it wouldnt come off. When i first unwrapped the blade and seen this i thought "what the heck? figures! cheap blades, should i even use this?" nothing on the blades edge so i went ahead, tried to load it in my razor but it fell out and went right in the trash can, i then thought "GREAT! its a sign" but used it anyway after all that and was surprised. very forgiving blade, yet still sharp enough for a DFS, i even tried things with this blade i'd never tried before such as buffing and the J-hook and had no issues. I'd say this blade would be perfect for someone wanting to learn advance shaving techniques.

thats what i thought it was but it wasn't. it was as smooth as the razor

Can it be wax or glue from the wrapping?

I've opened up a few that looked this way too, really does look like rust but not sure it is, I tossed mine though.

could be just some staining on the steel its self, just because its called stainless steel doesn't mean it wont oxidize or stain, the blades may not have been coated with oil fully at the factory which caused some irregular oxidization

thats the word i was looking for. stain. it didnt feel like anything, glue, rust, it was a stain of some sorts. i shaved with it anyway and got a good shave.
