An interesting idea for razor cleaning

I saw this last night on a program dealing with how to use various products for other than their intended purpose.

One was to use the denture cleaner, Efferdent, to clean jewelry. AHAH says I, I bet that would work for cleaning a DE instead of Scrubbing Bubbles.

Unfortunately, I don't have any razors up for cleaning, but I thought I would pass it along for someone else to try.

Another was to smear regular mustard on a burn. I have yet to try this either.

I use them to clean porcelain items, but have been warned not to use them with anything that has applied gold, so may not be too good for plated items

I'm curious as to why just soaking it in rubbing alcohol wouldnt be sufficient for sterilization. Isn't that stuff for your hands basically just a gel form of rubbing alcohol? That kills like 99.9 percent of germsoo

It's not the sterilization that I am after, it's the cleaning off of the gunk in all the nooks and crannies.

I use barbicide for sterilization.

Agree, I just need to clean it not prepare for surgery! I use a toothbrush and a little dawn liquid dish soap....works a charm.

This! A 3-piece is easy to clean, but on the more complex razors you can't always get access to the internal workings - and that's where the most gunk buildup occurs. Scrubbing Bubbles gets in there and loosens all the old dirt up pretty quickly.

Instead of Efferdent, try the store brand. Works the same and costs considerably less. BTW, SWMBO drops one each week in the toilet bowl and it stays ridiculously clean and shiny as a result.

I've placed a plated piece of metal in a denture cleaner and it turned the plating jet black I'd stick to the scrubbing bubbles:thumbup1:
