Am I Using Enough Cream?

When I shave, I usually do 3 passes. I really love creams, and use them 90% of the time.

So here are my questions:

When you are done shaving, do you waste a lot of lathered cream? Or do you lather up just enough to do exactly your number of passes.

I got the Trumper's samples (they are amazing!!!) and they are 1 ml each. Can that really be correct? I'm getting 5-6 shaves or more from that one ml. Does that mean I'd really get 1000 shaves out of one 200 ml tub!!!!!! I'm guessing that the samples MUST be more than 1 ml.

I dumped a huge pile in my bowl of KMF last night, and had enough cream to shave 10 people. I know that was a bit much, but do you find that you need to waste a lot to ensure you have amazing cream for all your passes.

Thanks!

I get about 3-4 shaves from a 1ml sample, so you're not that far off. a 150ml tub will last me about a year. I used to be stingier with my creams when building lather, but I began using more than I thought I needed (a bit bigger than an almond size chunk), and it has helped the shaves be more cushion-y.

I generally have cream and or soap left over in the scuttle. I do try to get it right. Almond size or a bit smaller is good for me. If you go even less than you need and find you are running out before the last pass, you can add a bit of water to make more lather from what is in your brush. Works every time. I am frugal by nature but want enough lather for a full shave 10-20 passes at least.

I only use soaps, but I always has lather left over, not that much, but I always make enough for at least 4 passes and touchups. After all it is not the 25 cents of soap every day that will bring down my economy;)

I use less than an almost size and it is good enough for me. My question is how long will a tub of shaving cream last? I have had a few of mine for almost 2 years and have had no problems with them. Will they eventually go "bad"?

If I don't use enough cream I don't get a cushiony thick lather. When I bowl lathered I didn't need as much. For some reason now that I face lather I seem to need more cream. Doesn't matter I have enough to last me about 10 years! :001_unsur

I go with a little over an inch line for 3 passes and some touch-up, I like my first pass to be reallly thick because I rinse my face between passes.

By the end for my ATG pass its reallly slick and I barely have enough for a touch up, just how I do it.

ive always got lots of lather left over - but its better to make too much than not enough

I totally agree, and learned it the hard way.

I used to try and get it exactly right, but when I would err on the side of too little cream, it would affect the 2nd and 3rd passes.

Now I err on the heavy side - it does produce extra (probably an extra 1-2 passes waste), but passes 1-3 are much more comfortable.

And since X-mas is coming up, and I anticipate having more cream than I can use for a while, I am noe being more heavy handed.
