Am I taking care of this?

My Genoa is about 2 months old at this point and the only thing I've done is smoked it! By the looks of it, should i be doing something else? $2012-12-17_21-01-01_795.jpg

So long as you clean it after each smoke you should be good to go, after a while you might want to ream it if the cake is too thick.

I was getting a little concerned with the burning of the top of the bowl! I typically use a bic (on the side) to light it!

The rim is getting toasty. Bics are tough to control where the flame goes, matches or a pipe lighter will help.

+1, no real harm done yet, my first pipe and a few others have similar scorching. Hit the Mrs. up for a pipelighter for Christmas, or, get one of those loglighters with the flexible snout so long as it's not a jet lighter.

as long as you are using pipe cleaners through the stem and occasionally around the bowl you should be fine. If you really want to get rid of that scorching you can use an old rag, a little spit, and quite a bit of scrubbing and it should come off.
